Cowboys Contact Ware about coming back

Sounds right. And although I'd love if we could save even more, that 3M is quite a bit. From what I've heard, cutting Miles basically pays for the rookie class. Let's say we cut Costa/Parnell/Durant, that's 4M. So at that point we've got the rookies covered and have about 6M for FA's (assuming we're 1M over the cap currently). I wouldn't mind bringing in a pair of 3M players on D. That would go a long way towards helping us approach the draft without desperate needs (or quite as much).

Good points................we might even be able to afford a couple of bargain free agents as well.

I think that's a little light.

The last couple seasons, as others have posted Ware has made like $6 mil per season in base salary.

I don't see the Cowboys offering him $8-$9 mil a season based on what he's done over the last two seasons.

I think the Cowboys get him down to $6-$7mil per season over the next two seasons. And this will be a multiple season adjustment.

That would save the Cowboys about $12 mil against the cap between this season and next.

I would like to see a bigger pay cut as well, but I just don't see Jerry playing hard ball with Ware.

Jerry is sentimental to a fault, we all realize that. If Ware says he will take a 25% pay cut and no more, I don't see Jerry calling his bluff and releasing him.

Let me save 15 more pages of bandwidth. These are all the possible topics to be covered here.....

1. Ware sucks and let him go and take the cap hit
2. He still has a couple of good years left, pay the man his money
3. Restructure because the line can't be depleted anymore
4. Ask him to take a pay-cut with incentives from production
5. Trade him to a 3-4 team so he can extend his career
6. Offer him to Houston for the #1 overall and draft JF
7. Trade Romo to St Louis for the #2 and get Clowney
8. Jerry is killin this team and is a bad GM
9. Old man Kiffin won't leave Luby's
10. Garrett is a puppet
11. But, Romo is better than Eli
12. No he is not!
13. Look at his rings and MVP's
14. This is all Costa's fault, he couldn't even grow out his arms in the off-season
15. Why can't Stephen go back to school and take a couple of math courses
16. Sigh, Jerry went to eat dinner at P.F. Chang's, what is he thinking????

I think that about covers what is going to happen here :D

17. I hope Ware runs into Machete and splits.

Completely the wrong approach for Jones. He needs to tell Ware "We need your salary cut down to X amount and it's not open to discussion. Are you in or not?" and let Ware decide if he wants to be a Cowboy from now on.

That would be the best move to make, I agree....................however, Jerry is not known to always make the best move.

one reason a lot of FA's like to play for the Boys is that it is known that if you perform Jerruh will take care of you. Obviously a two edged sword there.

I wouldn't mind taking a look at Jared Allen. If he's cheaper sign him

Me too, but it won't be half like Free took. It'll be more like 75-80%. We'll shave a few million off, which is fine by me.

he is worth about 20% the leader of the worst alltime defense in the history of the nfl.

Fine. now cut him so he can go some where else and have a chance to win a championship before he retires. this is the best thing that could happen to ware. good luck with George Selvie this year.

The same Selvie who outplayed the vet Ware last year?

Eventually a hot chick gets old and you have to have the ballz to get rid of her.
