I'm pretty sure a few players have already made their team's PS because they simply have to go 24 hours without a claim being made for them.

No practice squads are formed yet. They may have been informed that they will be signed, and they may have already cleared waivers. But practice squads do NOT exist yet because it's the way the collective bargaining agreement is written.

However, earlier I said it may be Monday, and I think it may actually be after noon tomorrow that players can start being signed to the practice squads. Been looking for a specific date/time confirmation from this year's league calendar, but haven't found it yet.

Bennett probably meant that they have been designated for the PS pending that they clear waivers. Out of that group, I might expect Manny Johnson to get picked up elsewhere on a team that needs help.

Just as a follow up to this, it appears to be the precedent from previous years that practice squad players can be signed beginning at midnight tomorrow night, effectively meaning that the signings would be on Monday. I've seen two different sites that had Monday, September 7th, as the day when practice squad players could be signed, but neither was an "official" league website or a recognized sports group like ESPN. If I can find a link from one of those places, I'll provide it. But I'm not expecting any actual signings until late tomorrow night/early Monday morning.

LOL. The pitchforks and torches have been distributed; just waiting for the signal to march on the castle.

Welcome to Cowboy Fan Land. Under the right circumstances, Rowdy is tarred, feathered, and hung from the video board over a bonfire, at pregame.

No biggie Chief...

Remember when Texas Stadium "booed" Aikman?

We routinely villify our best players....legends....a backup OL is nothing.

I wasn't talking about Proctor specifically, although he would be at the top of my cut list. I just meant I am tired of waiting for the cuts to be announced.

I do like the idea of storming Cowboys Stadium with pitchforks and torches and burning Rowdy in effigy! :lmao2:

That would never happen.

The video board is way to high.

Unless it was a BIG bonfire. ;)

Stanback Among Saturday's Cuts
Posted by nickeatman at 9/5/2009 4:41 PM CDT on truebluefanclub.com

The Cowboys have turned in their roster cuts to the NFL, and among the big names include wide receivers Isaiah Stanback and Jesse Holley, who scored the winning touchdown Friday night in Minnesota, and late-round draft picks DeAngelo Smith and Mike Mickens, a pair of defensive backs from the University of Cincinnati.

In all, the Cowboys released 22 players and put another on injured reserve. That actually puts the roster at 52 players. It’s likely the Cowboys will claim another player on Sunday.

Stanback, a fourth-round pick in 2007, has struggled to stay healthy and transition himself as a receiver from a quarterback in college. He has just two reception in two injury-plagued seasons.

Not on this list is rookie wide receiver Kevin Ogletree, the only undrafted player to make the team. Ogletree scored two touchdowns in the preseason, including the first of five scores by the Cowboys in Friday’s 35-31 preseason win over the Vikings.

Other so-called “bubble” guys that have made it for now include guards Cory Procter and Montrae Holland and nose tackle Junior Siavii, who hasn’t played an NFL game since 2006.

The Cowboys decided to move rookie linebacker Stephen Hodge to injured reserve. The sixth-round pick from TCU never fully recovered from a knee injury that required surgery in July. Hodge joins Robert Brewster and Brandon Williams among draft picks that will be lost for the 2009 season.

Here’s a list of the cuts and roster moves made on Saturday:

Injured Reserve:
Stephen Hodge

Waived:
Travis Bright

Courtney Brown

Rudy Carpenter

Scott Chandler

Julius Crosslin
Marcus Dixon
Tearrius George
Ryan Gibbons
Jeremy Haynes

Jesse Holley

Mike Jefferson

Manuel Johnson
Keon Lattimore (waived/injured)

Mike Mickens
Willie Reid

Derreck Robinson

Asaph Schwapp

Jonas Seawright

DeAngelo Smith

Isaiah Stanback

Matt Stewart

DeAngelo Willingham

Well we could string up Rowdy cut the cord so he falls 90 feet to the bonfire so it looks like he was punted and bounced of the video board :D
