I just wish they just went back to 3 point stance with him. He is built mor elike Tony Tolbert than Charles Haley or Demarcus Ware. He is not a stand up and rush guy.

Leading the TEAM in pressures sounds good, and pressure is very important, but it would still be nice to see him get more tackles and sacks.

When he had no good palyer oposite him and he got criticized hey said he has no sacks because he is missing a good player.

Now he has one for the second straight yearand he still doesnr produce its hey the other performs because of him.

Guess what ?! The other performs because he is good. DLaw doesnt perform because he is .... ? Fill in yourself. ;-)
He just needs to get healthy, with Griffen and Lawrence in the game together this defense will improve, its an insane season when mass injuries are eradicating other teams rosters as well.
We have had our share of injuries but some teams have been gutted.
This defense has the ability to come together, Im giving it more than a three game sample size,, by mid season this defense has the potential to be playing at a higher level than they are currently.
There are a lot of dynamics under construction on defense,, new staff, new schemes, in a turbulent atmosphere,,
There is young talent on this team, learning how to play at this level, like Diggs.. Ya he has been burnt but who hasnt in this secondary, but at least I see some high side positives out of Diggs.
Heres a rook DB giving it a go because its just time to roll, right now, no working you in behind a savvy vet.
Diggs has shown me a presence of mind while in the game.
He is learning on the fly and he will make his fair share of mistakes, but you can see that awareness he has at times, and some players have a nose for the ball,,, he might not have a pic yet, but he seems to be in position a few times already .
I like Diggs ceiling is what I guess Im saying.

people who still think sacks mean every thing are way stuck in the past. as if all sacks are equal any way. i am pretty sure taco charlton had as many sacks or maybe more then dlaw and clowney last year. that tells u everything u need to know about judging players on sacks.

D-Laugh’s supporters will always say he’s double teamed and he allows the player on the other side to have success.
However, not taking into account that opposing offensive coordinators are game planning against a Quinn or Smith because of their numbers.
D-Laugh has not been the same player since he got paid, he may well be playing with pain, but I believe his issues are between the ears and will never improve.

1000% ....they are DLmen tickets to big deals but they are waay overrated. In fact, you can argue sacks alone makes no more impact than a QB pressure or defensive stop behind the line of scrimmage.......ALL three would count as negative plays for an offense. For example, if you look at JJ Watts and DWare HOF careers, their sacks alone had little or no impact get their teams a trophy. In fact, for his defensive impact, Watts Texans have only made the playoffs a few times. For all DWare sacks at a Cowboy, it took him playing with Von Miller to get his trophy. My point is UNLESS an elite pass-rushing specialist gets plenty of help from other defensive components, his sacks impact his individual stats more than his team. Take look at 2019 and 2018 sack leaders below........ players all over the chart.

BTW......recall reading ( either from and agent or GM ) that double-digit (10) sacks are the min threshold for a big contract. In fact, DLaw admitted Stephen Jones promised if he put together TWO back-to-back years of double-digit sacks, he'll get his deal ( he of course did just that, the final year of his rookie deal, followed by franchised tag year).

Starters are starters because they're presumably better. When they're out, the team generally does worse. This is not particularly unique or even pronounced with Lawrence.

Back when Lee was Lee, the defense was night and day with and without Lee. Last year, the team was 6-4 with AWoods, 2-4 without. He was better than the alternatives, with the added effect that when he was injured, the rotation had fewer bodies to spread the work to.

Somebody had some nice chart showing that Quinn was doubled almost as often as DLaw. (I assume that was just pass rush snaps, though).

Crawford & Lawrence are similar Cowboys. Some fans complain about their pay, while others swear they do more than what the stat sheet shows.

Last year we lost Crawford & the D took a turn for the worse. He's back this year so we'll see if they pick back up. Not sure if the cause & effect argument is accurate.

Dlaw should be producing better than he has. I think he's capable, but at this point I need to start seeing more out of him.
