Another thread about a topic that's been discussed over and over and over.
I think the opening day starters will be Irving and Lawrence. I think we'll draft a DE in the 2nd and he won't contribute much, and will be talked about as a savior for 2018 when Lawrence is gone.

I actually like Irving at DE better than 3T, but I don't feel comfortable with him starting and Kenneth Boatright and Ryan Russell backing him up.
We're not letting Lawrence walk. I agree with you on Irving being a legit candidate for DE. I don't think we want to, but we could also move Crawford back out and put J Crawford at the 3. Or kick Bosa inside on 3rd downs and move Crawford out along with Lawrence. And if and when Gregory makes it back on the field, he'll give us good snaps.
The one thing we do have going for us is some flexibility with this group. We're desperately thin, though. We have to get J Crawford done, and we really need to add at least one DE before the draft, even if it's a rotational guy nobody really cares for.
I don't think we can afford Lawrence. I mean with Frederick, Martin, Dunbar and Escobar in line for big paydays, there's going to be some collateral damage.

"Big Paydays" for Dunbar? Escobar?
oopsThat was in jest.
That takes Bosa off our board.

The whole reason we're doing this is to be able to sign our own guys to long-term deals. It had better pay off. Lawrence has got to be licking his chops.
