Cowboys Defensive Pass Map isn't good news for Eagles Bradford

Unfortunately, this whole thing is based on a sample of 13 attempts. That's a little less than two attempts per game at that distance, and it represents less than 6% of all attempts Dallas has faced. But it's the other 94% that is hurting us. The Cowboys have the league's 21st-ranked pass defense according to pass rating.

Not that we should have any problem against Bradford, of course.

Seems like most teams' "defensive pass map" hasn't been good news for Bradford.

The reality is, he's just not near as good as he was supposed to be playing in this offense.

Guy can't run and throws lots of INTs. Seems to get flustered easily also.

This is just Marinelli's philosophy at work, bend but don't break. It's our philosophy to keep everything in front and not give up the big plays, so the stats shouldn't be a big surprise.

The only stat I care about is points.

Maybe the other teams don't feel the need to take any chances because Dallas is not putting any pressure on them to score....

or

The defense is designed to make you work it down the field, which is why there are so many short passes given up

or

Maybe a bit of both..

This ^^^^. Our defense was rank pretty decently in the Campo years also, for this very same reason.

He'll probably shart the first time Hardy gets within 3 yards of him.

I'm hoping Lee gets back on track by getting an interception knowing this. He's been a disappointment the last couple of weeks. We need him to be a playmaker.

Yep, I mostly agree. I'll still take Takeaways at a premium though. And Marinelli's defense is predicated on those two things. It doesn't care about yards or field goals. It only cares about stopping TDs and taking the ball away. So far, he's done a good job this year, except for the takeaways.

Now why you wanna put actual factuals in a thread where posters are taking the side of the illusion.

What happens on less than 6% of the attempts our defense faces is virtually meaningless.

Exactly. The moments of poor safety play have generally been when they are coming forward to pick up an underneath route and they take a poor angle or miss a tackle.

Maybe because it isn't as poor as all the armchair coaches think it is.

Ive always found Church and Wilcox to be very effective limiting the deep ball. A staple of 2 Deep Safeties. I think they are better in that respect this year, but lost the nose for the ball they seemed to have last year

The defense as a whole is playing more soundly and taking fewer risks.

Leads to less busted coverages but also less turnovers.
