Not sure I agree on that one. We can argue over which one is a better assessment. I'll take points scored. They can run up and down the field all they want as long we stop them from scoring TD's. Teams might just be playing catch up to our offense and accumulating lots of passing yards.

And on the other side, the offense may just suck and the other team rarely has to score more than 20 points to beat you.

How are you going to allow for the points the O allows to score? How about starting FP and fumbles and picks? If you're just going points, you are ignoring a pile of factors that had nothing to do w/ the D.

Perhaps you're referring to an assessment of the entire team?

Well, he can't win anything with that according to you and your buds, so I guess the next logical step is to try and see what he can do with an all time great defense.

I think that is what they want to say but can’t bring themselves to say. Problem is you can’t have that type of D paying most the the big $$$$ to the offensive side. If they admit that they need a Raven type D then they have to admit Dak is just a Johnson, Dilfer or McMahon bus driver but that they will never do.

5th in points given up 19 pg is just average, But you may be right maybe Dak needs a D that gives up less than 12 to be successful although against good teams that might not be good enough. Twist it spin it anyway you like Dak has had good enough defensive play except last year but you keep blowing smoke about poor defense. Just be honest and admit Dak is no more than a good QB who has failed to get the job done to date.

EVERY QB needs a better than average defense. Not just Dak.

History in Cap era illustrates with rare exception you need an Elite QB or Defense. And or need to be great on one side of the ball and average to above average on the other .
