Parsons is 2nd in pressures for a part time pass rusher.

He's built for it just fine.
For part time, you are right......but no way as a full time DE.... would be a waste of his talent and he wouldn't be able to handle it, physically....I'd run at him all day long and wear him down with a 320 tackle...

Parsons doesn't have the physique to handle 300 pounds fulltime for a season. Eventually it will wear him down and severely shorten his career. I could see him playing in a rotation but that would be wasting his talents.

Parsons is a rookie linebacker and he and the team has got to take some lumps while he acquires experience at the position. Consider it an investment into the future and that future could even pay off later this season. He's going to make some mistakes but I believe he will learn much quicker than the average rookie.

In the end, we will have a dominating linebacker capable of lining up anywhere and that will be far more productive than an EDGE playing one side of the field. For now, help is coming in a few weeks, we will get T-Law back.

With T-Law and Gregory at EDGE in addition to a Parsons getting batter each week at linebacker, it will form a very powerful triangle of speed that can defend the field on both sides as well as the middle, where the Cowboys had been struggling the most. Add in the recovering DT's along with Osa and the OLBers Neal and LVE and the Cowboys front seven will be solid.

There is a difference between an EDGE and a DE.

We have no choice at this time but to play Parsons at LB due to letting Jaylon go. Until someone else can show that they are better than Parsons I fear he will get most of the reps
Disagree.

Jabril Cox could play LB very well.

Francis Bernard is coming back. He was playing very well in training camp before getting injured.

Luke Gifford has improved and could start at LB if needed.

I can't help but think we're misusing Parsons by making him play LB so much and being taken out of plays because of it.

He should be rushing the passer 80% of the time at least.
Right. I think he’s still 2nd in pressures and up there in sacks amongst all rookies.

He needs to rush 100% of obvious passing downs.

If Jabril could.....why has Quinn not let him do so?

For the same stubborn reasons he keeps playing Micah Parsons back as a coverage LB when his strength is as an Edge pass rusher. Also, for the same stubborn reasons Quinn knew the Cowboys had been trying to find a trade partner for Jaylon Smith since the offseason, meaning the Cowboys were obviously trying to get rid of Jaylon Smith and no longer play him, yet Quinn kept Jaylon as a starter until a few weeks ago when the Cowboys saw enough costly bad performances on the field and just outright cut Jaylon.

Again can't have Micah rushing if you do not have anyone capable of playing LB. If we had it on the roster Micah would be rushing the passer more. Clearly Jaylon was doing a good enough job when he was here to have Micah primarily as a rusher and clearly no one has shown Quinn or our LB coaches that they are capable of giving at a minimum what Jaylon was giving us.

Are you serious? Did you not see what Jabril can do with his speed and hitting ability against the Giants on the 1 play he took out their QB? Jabril also played very good during the preseason and was making plays throughout training camp. I honestly don't understand what Dan Quinn is thinking by not playing him. Quinn was wrong about playing Jaylon, just like he's wrong about not playing Cox.

I don't know why this is the case but for some reason Cox isn't getting many reps since Jaylons' departure and it seems like Micah is getting more reps at linebacker. Not entirely sure why that's the case of a Jaylon departure.

Cox not getting many snaps should have been expected. He wasn't the reason Jaylon was let go. LVE, Parsons, Neal and Kearse were playing better in their snaps at linebacker, reducing Smith's snaps to just a handful, which meant he was getting paid too much and with the injury guarantee, Dallas didn't want to be possibly locked into paying him too much again next year.

Cox made a great play on Daniel Jones in the Giants' game, but that shouldn't be mistaken for Dallas wanting to have him out there a bunch at this point in his development.

I guess I just don’t see the point in not playing him. Especially watching the veterans committ mistakes.

Not in a 4-3......in a 3-4 or slide, yes

Not all 4-3 are the same.

The 90's Niners played 4-3 with the end standing up, called an ELEPHANT.

Legion of Boom Seahawks call that player LEO.

This position is essentially an EDGE, who's primary role is rushing passer.

People wanted jaylon gone
Who did they expect to replace him?
Cox is a good player but he’s not a MLB

Right...Cox was meant to be the replacement for LVE and Parsons the replacement for Jaylon.

The problem is that we were forced to find out how good of a pass rusher Parsons could be when DLaw went down. No one before the draft was saying make Parsons a pass rusher; well not fans anyway. We all thought he would be the starting middle linebacker and we thought it would be sooner than later. Ironically now most don't want that.....

Playing MLB is not Micah Parsons best fit. Playing EDGE as a pass rusher is. The tape on Micah shows that.

Yes we know this and if we do Quinn does too. However, no one is debating that. What we are debating is where Micah is most needed right now with the make up of this defense and I believe with Jaylon gone.....its MLB cause we don't have anyone that is capable of doing it at Jaylons level right now.
