Interesting nugget about Bill Callahan's availability: Ravens put in a request to talk with him last week. They were denied permission. ...
... I'm told Cleveland has been informed that they'd similarly be denied permission to talk to Callahan. Doesn't mean it's all over, tho.

Linehan wasn't hired until yesterday.

I wonder if they ask to speak to him this week if they'll be denied that permission again. In the interest of prudence, you don't just let a guy walk away without having a plan for the replacement. How many people quit a job without another one lined up? It's unwise, and works the same way when replacing employees.

Sorry, but that is such a bush league move right there.

The offense was top 5 in points scored and the OC basically gets fired and replaced with one of "Garrett's guys"........so he was not fired for lack of production, Garrett just doesn't like him as much as his bff from Detroit.............then the team denies permission for Callahan to be an OC at a different team.

Total bush league move, only scrub organizations operate like this.

LOL at it being Bush league. The offense scored a lot when it had to but often stalled when it didn't and was dreadful on 3rd down. Also the amount of times a run play should have been called instead of a pass and vice versa is extremely frustrating. The play calling needs to improve so there is nothing bush league about this.

You mean that's not typical Garrett offense since he's been here? 3rd and awful is Garrett's offense and has always been, cause all he knows is feast or famine. That's the Garrett offense.

The best plays in our offense this year were the 5 WR spread and zone pitch which were obviously Callahan, cause we never ran them Garrett as OC.. You did notice this year us attacking the seams more and abandoning the delayed draw on 3rd and long right?

Its bush league to not let the guy that finished top 5 in points scored have an opportunity to be an OC for another team. That has nothing to do with if the play calling needed improving or not. If you make a change, then tell Callahan he is free to go elsewhere.

Its bush league to deny him an opportunity to be an OC and call plays somewhere else..............you don't treat your employees that way, I would never prevent one of my employees from seeking another opportunity somewhere else if I demoted them. Its called being professional.

How was he demoted? and to be honest, our offense wasn't really that good. You're only looking at one stat.

Now...Now!!!
We didn't hear if either team came to Dallas offering a draft pick in exchange for the opportunity to interview him.
I suspect that if Cleveland offers a pick the door will be opened a bit for Callahan to leave...
What say you???

LOL

This is the same nonsense when it was speculated Tampa would make a run at Marinelli. Teams are not going to give up draft choices to hire a coordinator. If denied permission, Cleveland will just move on to someone else like Kyle Shanahan, no big deal to them.

Its total high drama crap from Jerry trying hard to be relevant past December.

The Offense has been good at yards since Red got the reins handed to him but not balanced at all. This is the 3rd version of the same old song and it won't matter come Jan. 2015 anyway.

The one stat that really matters. They were #5 in scoring, but only #15 in Average Scoring Margin, because the defense was garbage. They were #2 in Points Per Play (efficiency), #3 in Red Zone Percentage. They were top 5 in almost every category, and top 10 in the rest. The only major gripe I have is 3rd down.

This isn't bad for a guy in his FIRST YEAR as the OC. He produced.

Calling plays in 2013...........not calling plays in 2014................looks like a demotion to me.

And our offense was top 5 in points scored...............last time I checked it is points that win games so that is really the only stat that matters. But if you want another stat, we were the #3 team in the NFL in red zone scoring.

And if you want to fire guys who units were not very good..................why is grandpa and his USC defense still here then?

No Pay...No Play!!
Let Cleveland move on then... It's like they are having ever so much success hiring coaches to come to that toilet...
Who wants to hitch their star to a worse organization than the Cowboys...Line up Coaches!!!!

Oh I know it is. I agree with you on it being a part of Garrett's offense since he's been here and if it doesn't improve he won't be here next year. Let's hope Linehan helps tremendously in this area.
