Well for one he has the best pocket presence of any Tech QB I've seen, or anybody in the country IMO. He is not looking to run as well, and always looking down field much like Romo, but can move if needed. His arm is a cannon and he can throw from any angle, as he was a draft able shortstop in baseball. He's only started 2-3 games his Freshman year and then all last year as a Sophmore and he's already the best Tech QB I've ever seen, and yes Mayfield was pretty good his freshman year.
I've said this quite a few times but if Russell Wilson and Rothlesberger had a baby it would be him. If your bored go watch the Tech/TCU game from last season. One of the most gutsy performances I've seen since Emmitt tore his shoulder, and Michael Jordan had the flu. He hurt his knee early on and couldn't move at all, but kept playing, and playing. At the end he threw a Hail Mary where the ball went at least 75 yards! Looked like a javelin!
While I am a Tech fan (born in, not by choice) I know who can play and who can't. This dude has the "it" factor that every team covets. He raises a less talented team to believe, because he's that good. He is going to be a star and he has just got started.
