Cowboys Dynasty: The New Hope

It's just hard for me to say the word dynasty with this group knowing how poor of a playoff team they've proven to be over recent history with even better players and better coaches than this current roster and staff.

I'll settle for a divisional playoff win and go from there.

When Jerry is gone. How do we know it will be Stephen at the reigns. It could be Charlotte.
However does Stephen still have control of the money for FA.

How do we know Gene Jones will not be involved somehow. Appointing Charlotte as taking control.
Or will it be team run by family committee.

What ever it is, nothing will change until they figure out how to build a winning roster.

Stephen is Jerry 2.0 and actually, he may be worse.
In terms of involvement yes, but I think the difference is Jerry has shown he isn't afraid to take a swing, while his son is more conservative. I do think the Cowboys haven't spent much in free agency because Stephen now has more influence and doesn't like spending in free agency.

Jr hates spending his inheritance; as regards pure greed he is right up there with the Walton brats

When Jerry passes but nothing changes it’ll become clear that Stephen has been running things for some time now.

Yeah Jerry is given his way at times to appease him, often to the detriment of the team (Lance, Mingo), but he doesn’t go against the kid….and the kid thinks cheap draft picks are the way to go. Never mind that it’s been proven impossible to draft well enough to make that work.

Many of us hold out hope that things will change when Jerry goes, but I’m not so sure.
I felt the same way until I researched the father son ownership dynamics.

Well none of us are sure what will happen, although some hold out a great deal of hope.

I really don’t know. If the “drought” is pushing 50 years Stephen may have a change of thought. It’s really hard to say, but I doubt he hires a GM soon after Jerry dies, although I also don’t think he will want to withstand the pressure at that point. He also doesn’t have a burning desire to prove that he can do what Jimmy Johnson did. Let’s see……

As fans realize there's no incentive for a current HOF, three time Super Bowl owner who's in their mid 80s to win another SB, there's a little known fact that could compell his son to win another.

There are only two father and son HOF owners. Those franchises are the NYG and the Stealers. The second generation went on to win multiple SBs which propelled them into the HOF.

I believe Steven is that guy who wants a place in the HOF so he'd better get a move on because he's pushing 60. If he can win multiple SBs under his ownership, he'd be a first ballot, minus any scandal.

Only problem is, don't expect another SB while Jerry's above ground.
Geez you are delusional dynasty hope what are you thinking.

Steven Jones could care less about being in the Hall of Fame.

To win you have to spend money and he's proved that he is the cheapest individual in the NFL.

Steven Jones Super bowl and Hall of Fame is the same as his father's right now.

Maximum profit and being the most valuable team in all of sports.

Sad but true I used to be in denial but no more the Jones family has proved conclusively what's important to them

I totally get it. Current behaviors are a good indicator of future behaviors, but he's operating under daddy now. Let's see what happens when he's on his own.

I gotta a feeling he'll want that HOF ring.

I truly hope you're right.
I hope he realizes his limitations and hires absolute best professional people to run the front office and let them do their job.
I hope he holds them accountable and demands results.
Meaning of Super bowl for the fans.

But in my heart of hearts I believe the influence of his father has been too great and we fans are nothing more to him than the peasant characters in Mel Brooks History of the world.

I feel he puts generational wealth above everything else but not sure yet if he values working with his family like Jerry does.
This could be what saves us if he actually gets talented people outside the Jones family to operate the team and we are not only financially successful but also successful on the field.

That said I am not going to hold my hand on my behind waiting for fear it will grow there before this happens

I absolutely think the opposite. I don't think Stephen cares. He has been mentored and trained by Jerry, his focus is on money and it shows in negotiation tactics, trying to save a million a year on a contract because they are thinking about bottom line, as opposed to what is another couple of million and lets win a championship....they are the highest profitable franchise in NFL, by 4 fold, and yet, that's the focus. it never fails with both of these bafoons.

I don't expect a superbowl with Jerry. I don't expect one when Stephen takes over. perhaps when stephen is under ground with Jerry and there is new leadership that actually cares about winning.

Narcissism is partly genetic, so Steven would be more inclined to get the gold jacket.

"Lasciate ogne speranza, voi ch'intrate"

"Abandon all hope, ye who enter here"

The only three good things about the Dallas Cowboys is their legacy, their Cheerleaders and this website.

Venture outside any of those three and you'll be completely disappointed.

Is it too early for the gameday menu thread?
