Cowboys enamored with Josh Simmons

No problem with that but where do u play him. Kick Tyler back to tackle could be an option with Guyton moving to the right side.
I imagine

Guyton Smith Beebe Simmons Steele

Next year

Simmons Smith Beebe Hoffman Guyton.

Typical Cowboys. Let’s make moves in 2024 and 2025 to just move it all around in 2026.

Does Simmons have any history at G? I haven't seen any flex there, but I haven't looked into it.

If we draft Simmons, Steele is cut and Guyton moves right. You draft him because you're getting a LT prototype.

Yes, he played guard in high school. Some scouts project him at guard as well.

That’s the logical move. But this team doesn’t do logical. It is reactionary as opposed to preactionary

He’s the top OT if not for the injury. I would hate it though

I would love the pick, I hate that they're so transparent so anyone who wants to trade ahead of them is forewarned.

IMO, the pick is Simmons, Mykel Williams, or Walker.

They have leaked their picks pretty much every year for a very long time.

Vander Esch, Guyton, Taco, Hill, Zeke.

Only ones that were a shock were Lamb and Parsons because they fell and Mazi

Man that's true. All those picks were telegraphed.

There's been a lot of talk about Golden though. That may be the leak, although this could be like DWare. He shot up their board at the last minute and you could see it coming. Simmons could be that mold of draft pick.

DeWare shot up all the boards late. This was one of the few cases of someone's measureables waking people up real late. A month before the draft he was I think like #20 on most boards.

Yeah let’s go OL for 3rd time out 4 first rd picks.
EXACTLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will scream if we pick an OL in the 1st round, where the hell do we play him especially if we get a OT, I hope we don't move him to Guard. Leave the OL to day 3 or something my goodness! Just took Tyler Smith a few years ago, then Guyton last year

Don't hate this at all. 12 does feel a little rich for Simmons, but we could make that argument of nearly every target the Cowboys have right now. Simmons in my mind could possibly end up being the top tackle from this class when it's all said and done. If not for the injury he very well could be in discussion as a top 10 pick.
Yep to all of the above.
It's all in the details of marrying up impact "this year" to value and need.
The current LT is a project I'm not sold on waiting for.
IF Simmons medicals are to where he is fully clear and healthy by opening day I'd much prefer him to any WR that's for sure.
While I prefer 2 DTs and a RB in the first 4 rounds I could live with this over say, a WR , CB 1-2 selection.

But that's me.
Im all about stop the run and run the ball.

This would be a smart pick IF he has recovered from his knee injury. He would have been the first OT off the board if he didn't get injured. Maybe if you take him, we can trade Guyton or Steele on draft dayr.

Do it. Sounds like he’s healthy. And besides you aren’t taking a guy at 12 for the first month of the season. He’s your LT for a decade. Let Guyton and Steele duke it out at RT and cut Steele next year. He’s the best pure LT in the draft

I think as fans we deserve more interesting draft picks than only offensive linemen

if he is healthy then shouldnt teams ahead of us who are in need of an OT draft him like the 9ers?
