So I got to thinking. There is a difference in the breed of "fan" here on the site and for all teams around the world. There are "enthusiasts" and there are "fans."
Enthusiasts...
- always support their team and hope for the best, and never expect the worst.
- are able to intelligently break down the X's and O's, albeit maybe not professionally, of not only their favorite team but the week's opponent as well
- are able to objectively criticize different parts of the organization or a game
- remain calm under pressure. A rough 1st quarter doesn't always mean it's time to mail it in.
- are able to hold an intelligent conversation with an opposing enthusiast of another franchise.
- always Defend the Star.
Fans...
- are the mouth-breathers; the booger-eaters that sit at home spilling Coors Light on their sweatpants whilst screaming for a challenge flag on a 1st down play
- Latch on and swing from the proverbial sack of a player one week, and are ready to string him up like wet laundry the next week...no matter who he is (some people here are actually not sure Demarcus Ware deserves a contract!?!?)
- Mail it in after a single bad play at 14:02 in the 1st. This play is usually on a 2nd and 5 or similar down and distance.
- etc....I could go on and on, but I won't. I think I got my point across.
