Cowboys have called Valley Ranch home for 28 years. That's about to change. Club explores options w/ Frisco, Arlington & Irving for new site

Cowboys Stadium is ready for her first nip and tuck. New field will be installed before team plays its first home pre-season game in August.

Wow, Frisco.

I remember when Frisco was a railroad track and a Dairy Queen. :laugh2:

I was thinking the same thing. Maybe they found a better quality turf.

Just curious - why not natural grass?

Very glad to see this. Among other cosmetic issues, the star is not centered on the 50 yard line it is slightly but noticeably off to one side. I can't believe Jerry hasn't addressed this sooner.

Well, when you think about the number of games played on the field since it's inception, it *almost* makes sense.

Cowboys, college games, high school playoffs... While the stadium is still fairly new, maybe the field couldn't hold up to the number of events.

Isn't that too much trouble indoors? The roof is closed most of the time.

How is that an issue. People around this nation grow lots of ... ummm ... grass indoors without ever seeing a lick of natural sunlight. I expect that wouldn't be too tough to accomplish on a larger scale.

That would be a huge operation.

If they wanted real grass they should have had the roll out field like in Arizona.

Ask the texans about that. They had huge issues. Now they pull the grass out to give it proper lighting. Really not worth it.

Las Colinas would be a good location IMO. Frisco seems too far up north.

They've got all those streets named after players in Valley Ranch. I mean that would just seem so odd to move out of Valley Ranch. Maybe Valley Ranch will fight to keep them there.

Don't know why I am so concerned about this topic so much, but I hope they move the facility to Arlington for some reason. I don't like the city of Frisco :lmao2:. Place seems real generic and ultra suburban to me:puke: .

I'd bet its mostly cosmetic. If you think about those fields at like highschools, they last for years and get used every day.

Not sure how many people have actually taken the tour...but for those that did:

Did you notice that the numbers, where they were sewn/stitched into the field, were noticeable raised compared to the surrounding turf?

We tried to emulate running and cutting while on the numbers and most of us were scared to twist an ankle or blow out a knee. Felt completely unnatural.

If they're going to spend money, they need to rotate the field so that the darned sun doesn't blind 50% of the players from 4:45 on in the fall. Why they didn't account for the sun in a more appropriate manner is beyond me.

Frisco on top, Valley Ranch in the middle and Cowboys Stadium at the bottom.

I would like to see them do what they do in Arizona with the natural grass being transported in before games.

I live right down the street from Frisco.. would love it if they move it here. I already see some of the players out at the Shops at Legacy.
