I've been watching Kyler since his first year at Oklahoma and the kid can move. The line will need to maintain gap integrity and keep blockers off of Parsons and Neal. Thankfully they are good enough to command multiple double teams per play and have the ability to pressure straight up the middle. On paper, this is a bad match up for Kyler. The speed of the front 7+Kearse should be enough to minimize (not neutralize) Kyler's dynamic runs. Spy Kyler with Micah, occupy their blockers, and set the edges and they're in pretty good shape.

I totally agree and see it being a very bad time for the little guy.

Yep, see my Avatar, his rookie card. Dude was a fullback, had a 6000 yard career but never had a 1000 yard season.
I had noticed that avatar. I still remember his star on his shoulder pads bouncing around as he ran. He was a good back and respected well.

Thanks for the share...

This will be a first this season, going to be interesting watching just how do we approach this. Hell, Murray is faster than anyone on that offense. Love the challenge, and the Cards that very rare breed of cat that does play better on the road which is weird.

Murray is horrible running backwards and takes massive losses when sacked. If the defense can keep him scrambling backwards and prevent him from getting the edge then they stand a chance keeping him contained.

This is where you would want to have Jaylon Smith back for one game because against Murray he could scoop him up with the arm swing to the ground hand swipe.

It's too bad he didn't recover well enough from the dropfoot and then played dumb.

Yep, so come from a little further out with the rush, funnel him inside.

I think the front 7 is key in containing murray and his improvisational skills both running and passing. DEs have to contain and force him to step up in the pocket or run backwards. DTs have to collapse the pocket to force him to throw over them and rush his throws. so Gregory, Parsons, Lawrence, Neal got a big task in front of them to just contain him and force him to throw from the pocket, which he struggles with.

The best way to handle a QB that runs is put hits on him early even when he is in the pocket. That will take the legs out of him.

This is not a sport that is kind to players with serious recovering nerve damage. On a slightly different note, G-BS which also causes nerve damage shortened Travis Frederick career, but at least he was an exceptional player for us around a half dozen years.
