Most teams have an up and down cycle. Their down cycle help most of them win a championship unless they are just a stupidly run organization.You should become a Cleveland Browns fan. They invest heavily into this theory. I expect them to start dominating the NFL soon.

In 1988 i was cheering like mad when the scores rolled in and i saw that Green Bay had somehow won their final game of the season at Phoenix, which combined with the Cowboys loss (which i was unabashedly cheering for) the same day, gave us the 1st pick in the draft and Troy Aikman.
Green Bay got the 2nd pick, a set of steak knives (Tony Mandarich).
