If they thought he was a salvageable QB for this year or the future, they would have played him.

They sat him because the risk was simply too great to bother and they had made up their minds they were done with him.

They were ready to move on...not disputing that at all. That was abundantly clear. However, the only reason he was "inactive " for 15 games was due to the option they stupidly picked up. Had they not picked the option up...he would have been active and actually may have played in games where Cousins struggled. Who knows...

Prescott in the 2nd or 3rd? How about no?

I didn't explain myself, but I meant Wentz as more of a trade down mid to late 1st or the #4 pick in the 2nd where a lot of people don't think he'll be available by then and Dak I meant more of a 3rd/probably 4th round pick. I think he's rated more as a 2nd/3rd rounder so the odds are he goes round 3.

A lot of people compare him to Tebow because he has similar qualities. But Dak's got a much improved arm this year and can make some tough throws. Doesn't always try to read through the defense and make progressions, but I think that's a major problem with a rookie you need to play from the get go and not so much our situation. 3 years behind Romo and I think a lot of these problems go away with Dak's work ethic. I'm not really a player fan of Dak as far as his time in college goes, but I'm pretty sold on him as a lower mid round pick in the draft.

Only player that I will be disappointed if we don't sign would be Lamar Miller.

Barring injury, Lamar Miller would be the best back in the league next season on this team IMO.

FA is so hit and miss so I wouldn't be sad if we are not too active, Lamar Miller is a special player though who won't break the bank, he is young and does not have too much wear and tear. A couple of the trades you mentioned are interesting.

We have McFadden. Don't need. Or something.

I don't dislike McFadden and I think we will be okay if we stuck with him but his future is limited and we definitely need another option, either through the draft or in free agency. Miller is one of the safest bets to hit the market(if he does).

Love the OP, with one tweak that I would rather draft a guy like Devontae Booker than pay a ton of money for a guy like Miller. That said, if we add Miller and Alshon Jeffrey to this offense (and Romo and Dez are healthy), our offense would dominate next year.

SMH fans and there Madden upbringing. Hardy was a cancer in the locker room and you want to sign Gordon?

I would pass on Gordon too.

I dont want anything to do with JF or RGIII.......................RGME? RGKnee? I cant stand him....JF is .............dumb.

I would love Kap. But I think OP is right, he is a starter somewhere and will get paid. If somehow we could convince him that the best thing for him, is to set for a few years and learn from Romo, pay him decent. We need a Backup to Romo and its going to cost us. And, then draft one, maybe not 4th, but 2,3,4,5 rounder....and try to develop him....

We need a RB. I reallt liked DMC , I like his hustle. and he has shown some real ability. But we need a bruiser. A compliment to DMC.....who that is? I dont know.

I think T. Williams should go to the 3rd WR spot; at least bring in some people in to push him....

But, I am not sure we will do much. I am not sure we do much at all, outside the draft. Were going to roll with Romo, hope he doesnt get hurt, and hope we win the NFCE, only to get beat by a subpar struggling GB team......Thats the goal.

I think Johnny sitting behind a guy (Tony) he knows is more talented and has won more will bring him down to Earth. Instead of knowing he's the best player on the Browns offense and NOT starting. I'd do that Gordon trade in a heartbeat. You get two players for next to nothing that are just bonuses that you're not counting on to fill any huge glaring holes. Win win.

If they had not picked it up, would he have been there at all? It looked pretty clear to me that once Jay Gruden got to know the player, he wanted absolutely no part of him. To the point where I wondered if the coach wouldn't be fired as a result of wanting nothing to do with a player the owner valued so much.

I guess winning the division really helped Gruden's cause. Have to give him credit for coming out of this with the ammunition that he was right and picked the right QB for his system regardless of pressure.

I definitely agree. I thought he was in completely over his head and then felt he was angling the whole RGIII discord to simply get fired after one season and walk away with a ton of money while not having to coach.

But I think it turned out that, much like Shanahan, the coach ultimately knew what he was talking about.

I was impressed by the job done overall by the staff in Washington and they look to have turned things around after the whole RGIII debacle, and faster than anticipated.

That's an interesting name. I really like the idea if the Cowboys could find a strong vet in between him and Romo. Prescott is definitely a project, but a moldable one for sure.

Living in the DC area I can say without a doubt that there was NO WAY Griffin would have been released in the 2015 offseason....whether they picked up the option or not. Whether Gruden would have played Cousins regardless is a different story. As I said, they were done with him as the "future" of the franchise.

I equate to the Cowboys situation with Mo Claiborne. Even though they didn't pick up the option on his deal, was there ever a true sense that he would be released this season? Even before OScan went down? I never had that sense. Teams don't generally just throw away their top 10 players without milking as much out of them as they can to get a return on investment.

You obviously missed his mediocre 2014 with a 4 TD-6 INT ratio in seven games when he passed over 270 yards just once. And of course the fact he was not even a remote consideration even being the backup for the Commanders after losing the starting job in preseason. This is especially after Cousins struggled in his first six starts this year.

No i didn't miss that season but like i said I don't think he was mentally ready to play. He clearly rushed back from his acl injury and he never seemed to mentally be in it once he finally got healthy. I think a change of scenery would work better for him and the right system as well. Now would garrett be the right system for him? who knows but based on this season, how confident are we that any QB not named romo could succeed? At least rg3 brings some athleticism to the table. Let him sit behind romo for a season or 2 and learn the ins and outs of the position the right way and we may have a new franchise QB. Let's not try to act as if we had the chance to get the 2012 version of rg3 that we wouldn't jump at that opportunity. Unlike manziel, we know rg3 is capable of being productive in the NFL. I say give him shot. Can he really be worse than weeden/cassel?....dont answer that lol

Love your posts GB but honestly I couldn't read any more than that.

No only do we say no to JF we sure as hell aren't trading for him.

Yea, I don't want to give up anything for JF...............if he is released, maybe I bring him in on a vet min contract for a look, but that is it. Same goes with RG3, if he wants to come in for vet min as well, I take a look.

I would prefer we not mess with either one of these guys and just draft Goff or Lynch at 4 with Moore being the number 3 and roll with that for next season.
