This is good. We are now in position to get the 3rd/4th round comp pick for losing Canty. I'd rather have that extra pick next year than Davis. We should be able to find a comparable special teams player without too much trouble.

I'd say Hamlin was the much bigger culprit, but whatever. Can't change the past.

They were both pretty injured at that point too.

But the ole' saying goes that if someone wants to work for someone else for less money, its time to wish him well and thank him for a job well done.

If he likes California State Taxes better than Texas No State :laugh2: Taxes so be it!!!

Cowboys did match the Kevin Burnett/SD contract but Kevin decided to go to SD anyway.

PEOPLE - he never wanted to be here in the first place. He probably would've taken less money to get back to his precious west coast. He won't be missed. We'll draft a LB that can actually play and be counted on.

Burnett played hard for this team. I wish him well and am glad that he got to go back home to the West Coast.

As a fan, I will really miss KD. I really identify him as a Cowboy. Was very glad to see him come back last year, and disappointed to see him go this year.

who said he wasn't grateful??

maybe he just wanted to start, and rightfully so

Rightfully so? For what sucking at covering backs and TE. Michael Westbrook and John Carlson say hello. Or maybe it was him being hurt so much. O h wait I bet it was all the plays he supposedly could make yet did not.

Its really a tough call: who is more overrated, Canty or Burnett.

I'm not saying he wasn't, but Davis had his part in that too-- And it wasn't the first time Davis has taken a lousy angle which resulted in a long-gainer.

Ill blame the entire defense for that silly debacle.

You can't even blame the coaches for that. You can call the worst defense known to man and not give up back to back 70 yard runs.

No, we will see him for sure, we play at kc.

I am guessing since both teams could be average or below based on last year it will be a sept oct game.

For what we asked both players to do I wouldn't say they were overrated at all.

We asked Burnett to be a Nickle Linebacker for us and cover people. He was very good at that.

We asked Canty to stop the run and contain the outside for Ware so Demarcus could rush the passer. He was very good at that.

I think both players did a great job at executing their responsibilities in this defense.

Well I see what you're saying, I meant more along the lines of "same money but a chance to start" over "same money and no chance of starting" in his regard

We needed a back up who could actually play if your starter (whoever that might be  ) goes down. Davis wasn't it. Special teams was his niche and honestly, if that's it, you might as well shop around. I think the Sensabough (sp) signing may have been the sign KD was looking for. Burnett was a good LB, but he will never last a full season. I remember watching him @ UT (Tn) and it was the same story...always nicked up. I really think he wanted to be closer to home (LA)...at least that's what I've heard recently.

I'll miss Killa. Shame to see him go to KC.

Our biggest loss this off season.

The Cowboys not pursuing Burnett is tells me that Barbie, like it or hate it, will have an opportunity to earn a spot as the nickel LB. I don't know why we are upset about KB leaving. He's a backup, he will not start in SD either. I mean if he was drafted 15 spots earlier we'd be calling him a first round bust. Bobby Carpenter has been a huge disappointment there is no arguing that. If Carpenter can't make it this year then I admit cut him, but give him a real chance in TC. Last year I made it a point to watch him in pre-season and I didn't think he looked horrible. His coverage skills were good, he was alright against the run and positionally sound. One area where he did look bad was tackling he seemed to always get pushed back allowing the offensive player gain another yard or two. But I don't see him as being a massive drop off from the lovable Kevin Burnett as a nickel LB.

Maybe I'm missing something but I cannot find any links on the web that shows that Keith Davis has signed a contract with the Chiefs. Can anyone post one? I hope he does because I'd rather have the 3rd or 4th round pick in next years draft. Same goes for Zach Thomas and Tank Johnson being signed before June 1st as well. I love me some comp picks.

I heard on Talkin Cowboys, Mickey was talking that it appeared that he was signing with KC. That contract talks had heated up with them. That it didn't look like the Cowboys wanted to pay him what KC was willing to. So it isn't official yet. (I had to listen to it again to get all of it, I originally didn't catch the part about the contract talks were heating up. Sorry if I got a little ahead of it. But it did sound thats where they expect him to go)
