What did Philadelphia do to get a 3rd and back to back 4th's? They must have an incriminating pic of Mora or Goodell. :D
Spent a huge amount on players they had to let many players walk due to over spending. One of the rare instances that "going for it" worked.

use it to get the best punter or kicker in the draft.
Braden Mann. Chris Jones replacement. Loved CJ6 but he's been declining, and by 2021 he'll have a $2.1M cap hit with just $500k in dead $$$. Time to moe on. Mann (Aggie homerism aside) is REALLY special. For real, his 2018 was record-breaking, and 2019 was almost as excellent.

He had a 69 yard punt against Clemson.

It has nothing to do with overspending. They were always going to get a 3rd rounder for Foles. it’s also why they took a flyer on trading a 3rd for Tate during the season a couple years ago. He didn’t work out for them, but when you know the market will net you a 4th in a comp pick the. The risk is greatly reduced.

It’s why they wanted to trade a 2nd to Oak for Amari before the Cowboys offered a 1st. Howie was ok risking a 2nd because he knew if contracts talk got difficult later, he would still get a 3rd round comp pick. Easier to risk a 2nd for a 3rd instead of a 1st...where you basically box yourself in to keeping the player and paying him what he wants.

The Pats, Eagles, and Ravens have always used the comp pick system to their advantage.

If I recall correctly, only the ravens have more comp picks since the system began than Dallas.

They should end this nonsense for compensatory picks. 10 3rd round picks were awarded in 2020. That's ridiculous. The Eagles got a 3rd round pick for a backup QB!

Comp picks should only be awarded to teams who lose players they drafted to free agency. If a team trades for a player then chooses not to resign him later then they should not get a draft pick. Golden Tate played for multiple teams before the Eagles. The Eagles traded for him kept him for less than 1 year and get a 4th round comp pick for him? That is absurd. In the meantime, the Cowboys lost Cole Beasley, a player they drafted and had on their roster for 7 years to the Bills, who made him a key part of their offense, and the Cowboys get a 5th round pick.

The formula is flawed. It should be fixed or eliminated.

Its funny the Eagles got a 3rd for Foles.

probably based off Foles' playing time in Philly and size of his contract signed with Jax ?
more funny how they traded for WR Golden Tate,... total bust with Philly..., and by simply allowing the bust to walk in FA,.. they are awarded a 3rd rounder for him.,

I think it should have been directed to 4th round picks at best, instead of 3rd rounders, that round seems too high for teams that know how to manipulate the FA compensation system, and it seems to help the more stronger teams ..vs helping the weak sisters NFL teams .

True. The Eagles cut two FAs they signed to protect the comp picks they would be awarded now.
