I think he is easily a #2, but he was getting paid to be a top 5 receiver in the league. He wasn't living up to that level. Sometimes the right move is to move on in life.

Sure, if you want a reciever that won't run routes or get open.

I never watch a Cowboys win so frustrated in my life. I have been watching Cowboy games since 1968.

During the Romo years it was knowing that Romomania was KitKrazy and Fitzmajic allowed to happen by a GM that did not listen to Parcells saying "don't break out the anointing oil". Jerry GM focused everything on offense and wasted the Parcells playoff caliber defense (Ware, Ratliff, Hatcher, Newman, Williams, etc.) with Winnie the Pooh and Jason Garrett.

Now that Dallas has the foundation of a playoff caliber defense, we have no go to no.1 or no.2 WR, and no TE that a QB can depend on to move the chains.

It was frustrating watching Dak and Zeke operate in this offense.

So what will Jerry the Dumbo GM do to correct the obvious mistake of releasing the no.1 WR and making it easy for the no.1 TE to retire from the Cowboys?

Trade for Devante Parker, Josh Gordon, and play Rico Gathers to let him learn on the job just like Jerry let Jason Garrett learn on the job. At least Gathers has more potential at 6-6-292 with 4.66 40 yd. time and 35 inch vert as a TE than Garrett as a HC.
Is it Jerry or Steven or Will McClay calling the shots. It changes from week to week on who the people think has the real power around here

Yep...bring in another malcontent/doper...why not?

If we had a real head coach; one who is free to impose discipline on screw-ups like this wack-job...maybe.

Of course...if we had a real GM...

Yea but that’s how contracts in NFL work . Rewards for what you did not what you’re doing.

And Dez after signing his contract in 2015 which he earned with his numbers from Rookie contract coming off his 2014 All Pro season and 3 Pro Bowl seasons never met because of not having Romo or a prolific passing QB in 2015, 16 and 17.

Dez is not worth what we were paying him now but he’d be worth something.

Rico is big but he's not fast. He runs 4.75-4.85. He's not on the field for a reason and its not b/c he's in anyone's doghouse............

I said it in another post. NE may be the only team that could take on Josh Gordon with success, but me thinks Billy B has met his match with this one. Josh Gordon needs to be on a team with a no nonsense approach to player discipline. Not the crazy stuff that happens with our FO.

Another thing I just don't understand about some of the fans here (and on the dc.com board previously), why is it that every time a big name free agent is released or becomes available, they want to bring them here to Dallas? Haven't we learned that re-treads very rarely work out? This is proven time and time again.

Dez Bryant--Seriously people, if we brought him back, not only would we look like idiots, it would be detrimental to the team.
Josh Gordon--Do we really need another high risk player who has played very little football since 2015? There is no guarantee he can ever recapture his old swagger...14 games 1000+yards and a bunch of TDs
Lots of people wanted Revis last year. How did that go?

The list goes on and on.

I generally agree, but show me a successful team which does nothing in free agency. We never truly fill a need in free agency. Our mantra is "at the right price", which means we're not interested.

I do agree on Gordon, he'd get a lifetime bad within a week if he signed with Dallas. I think he'll kick *** and New England will be the AFC rep again in February. Whether they can beat the Rams or Eagles or Pack or Vikes or whoever the NFC sends is a one game crapahoot. But Gordon will be there and won't be suspended.

I understand that is how contracts work and he earned it at the time, but he didn't continue to earn it. You can't keep paying him a premium amount for subprime results. I do think he is worth something. He thinks he is worth more than his true value, which is one reason he isn't playing right now.

He's the winner here went from the worst team in the league to probably one of the best

There's a cap people. We have Tank, Zeke, Dak and other coming up for extensions. We've already put money into the line. We can only spend so much money and be able to keep guys like Awuzie when they're up.
Josh Gordon current deal is 2 years with a RFA tag season. At least that what the NFL Network is reporting. So cap was not an issue.

I agree he wasn’t worth what we were paying for him with our current situation.

I think he would be worth more with the right QB like with Romo. With Dak he probably doesn’t have as much value.

And his attitude and mouth is definitely a problem. He should have taken Raven deal.

I was always a critic of Dez personality but I do have some sympathy cause he’s a casualty of our situation too which isn’t very complimentary of any reciever.

The fact that New England grabbed Gordon but did not want Dez tells you everything you need to know.

Gordon is a much better value and younger. And Belichick has the disciplinary methods in place like with Moss when no one really wanted him.

We don’t have a disciplined team because the buck doesn’t stop with our HC. Players know that and why Dez will struggle in a more disciplined environment . They won’t allow his sideline antics and walking off the field early.

There's nonstop excuses for this FO. Under Stephen Jones, they simply don't believe in FA.

Rico is 6-11, 320 and ran a 4.19 forty. His vert was 60 inches. He did 100 reps on the bench.
