Cowboys goal with the 12th pick

Overall this would be great ! But is Ty Robinson a run stuffing space eater ?
Nope.

Taking numerous skill position players when you can't stop the run is not great, it's foolish. Unfortunately, Jerry runs this thing as a casual fan would, so it's all about the flash, as usual. Can't fathom how anyone agrees w/ him.

Adding to the rotation of Osa, Thomas and Mazi is what they should be looking for. There is no Aaron Donald type DT that would be best for them to draft high enough. Adding to the LB and CB core is a higher need then DT. If the players drafted there can help plug the gaps it will make up for the big bodied DT everyone wants to draft to stop the run. Stutsman is a beast against the run, its where he excelled most in college.
There are several Aaron Donald types. Doesn't mean they have his talent, but they are definitely his type. Aeneas Peebles is that type, and could be a steal.

Peebles and Lott were available in my mock. I selected Robinson instead as I like his motor more then the other 2.

I do like his motor, just worried about his linear build being pushed around.
True. I think your right it would be nice to get a guy that just anchors the middle of the line and clogs up to the run game there. I was just trying to fill as many depth pieces with above average talent in multiple positions of need. I would rather have more options then just one guy on our defense. But I see your point as well.

Only time will tell what they decide to do. The guy I want as the DT is Collins from Texas. Just dont know if he will slip down to us with picks we have. That is where the trade downs come into play. If we can trade smart and pickup WR, CB, RB, DL with first 4 picks and they can be day 1 starters. We will have a great day.

It should be them setting their sights on a combination of the following:

WR - Golden, Egbuka, Burden
RB - Henderson, Judkins, Johnson
CB - Revel, Amos, Morrison
DT - Collins, Walker, Lott

Get one of each position of these in your top 4 picks. And they will have 4 starters for themselves. Which would instantly upgrade them for last season regardless of what else they do at draft or through FA.

Great offensive linemen and great defensive linemen make everyone playing behind them better than they otherwise would be. You won’t be disappointed. The idiot Cowboys will “go WR then RB in the first two rounds”.

I’ll bet the four teams that played in their respective conference championship games all select linemen with their 1st round pick.
I don't dispute the argument that building the OL and DL aren't important, but how many times are we going to throw a 1st round pick for an OL. I would not object to an interior DL with either of our first two picks, because we have ignored that position for far too long. Several teams win games with OL selected in later rounds. I maintain that the consideration for choosing OL with another 1st round pick has more to do with a QB who has difficulty getting through this reads than the quality of the guys on this team. Presently, Lamb is the only playmaker on offense, unless we have a return to form from Ferguson (pre-injury) and significant improvement from Schoonmaker. I am not too sold on the two free RBs we picked up who weren't resigned from their former teams. You can claim that the Eagles winning the SB had much to do with both their OL and DL, but having a superstars like Barkley, Brown, Smith, and Goedart didn't hurt either.

Without that offensive line “Barkley, Brown, Smith, and Goedert” would be stars. Not “superstars”.

Holy crapp, we just hired a moron. I was backing him, but now that's gone. That has NEVER worked in the NFL. Name one super bowl team that did it that way, dare ya.
Watch the actual clip and understand what he’s saying instead of just reading someone else’s take … who also likely didn’t watch the clip.

I was starting to believe in him, he says the right things, but if you're not building the trenches you'll be on benches watching the good teams play in the beginning of the year
So, OG, C, or DT at 12 or it’s a wasted pick?

That’s what you’re saying.

Nothing wrong with what he said. Too many boomers in this thread

Advanced analytics show the two most important positions in football after QB are WR and CBin this era

I actually agree with him.

High first round picks should be spent on:

QB
WR
EDGE
CB

Every once in a while, when there is a generational player at the other positions (like Jeanty this year), those are the exceptions.

Im not taking a guard, center, or 1 tech in the top-10
He also included OT

We've invested and I say this lightly several first round picks over the last few years in the OL, now if a top guy drops then go ahead, I just would like to see us trade back a few spots that's all! In all truth they're going to get who they get I'll like it either way

Jerry should do nothing but trade the 12th pick. If my GM hat is on, it goes as follows:

Call Denver at pick 12 and offer it up to Denver for picks 20 and 51.

When 20 comes along, and you still have 3 of McMillan, Burden, Egbuka or Golden on the board. You call LAR and trade our 20 for their 26 and 90 picks.

At 26 you will have BALT, DET and WASH next after you. You have to think at least one of the WR will still be left on draft board. But those 3 teams have other pressing holes to plug rather then WR. But Buffalo right after them, would have a hole to fill in their WR core. So you gamble and make one last small trade down to recoup a 4th rounder and trade #26 to WASH for their #29 and 4th round #128.

In my mock, I have just turned pick #12 into #29, #51, #90, #128. This to go along with #44 and #76 that I already had. That is 6 picks in the top 130 of the draft. My mock is as follows:

#29 - Matthew Golden (WR) Texas
#44 - Trey Amos (CB) Mississippi
#51 - Quinshon Judkins (RB) Ohio State
#76 - Carson Schwesinger (LB) UCLA
#90 - Brayden Swinson (Edge) LSU
#128 - Ty Robinson (DL) Nebraska
#149 - Jackson Slater (IOL) Sacramento State
#171 - Dillon Gabriel (QB) Oregon
#174 - Danny Stutsman (LB) Oklahoma
#204 - Jaylen Reed (S) Penn State
#211 - Ajani Cornelius (OT) Oregon
#239 - Jaylin Smith (CB) USC
#247 - Jaylin Lane (WR) Virginia Tech
I like the draft but there’s not a chance in hell golden is there at 29 I’d love to be wrong

Disagree with him when he said" you build it from the outside-in".

Ever since 2016 they've been doing that exact thing and that's why they can't run the ball and can't stop the run.

I'm a believer in building it from the "inside-out" where the trenches are the main thing.

No wonder Jerry hired him
Im sick of drafting linemen with our first pick

Having said that

Although
I always wonder about running series with like 3 tight ends an extra tackle and fullback and no qb and just see what happens

CB, WR, or EDGE is what I’m hearing.
We will know a few days .before the draft. Both Youmans and Slater new about the trades for Elam and Murray a day before they happened and hinted at it. I think Fisher? had the 1st rounder last 2 years. Do we have any DE under contract after next season other than Kneeland? I think it might be DE
