While I'm not against signing him, I just can't get excited over the prospect of paying a guy with character issues $15 million or so per year, which fool yourself if you want, will be close to what he signs for. I'd feel better if we were resigning one of our guys in a similar situation, because the coaching staff knows what they are dealing with, but Hardy with no financial motivations is a bit scary.
If the Cowboys are in then the money isn't in that range.

The Cowboys will not pay him 15M per.

This guy really can be the "Charles Haley" missing piece. He has top 5 pass rushing potential and would make our DL scary. I like a DL of Crawford, Hardy and Lawrence in his second year quite a bit.

Does this mean R. McClain is no longer a signing option? Or does this mean Dez might be signing a contract therefore opening up cap space? Or, does this mean Murray is no longer an option? Or, does this mean Carr has taken a pay cut? Or, finally, does this mean the Cowboys are about to restructure someone else? Some many questions and so few answers.

we opened up cap space by redoing Smiths contract

They have all those options you listed to get more space.

Ideally, I would like to see an impact FA DE signed along with Murray and McClain. I'd prefer Dez agree to a life-time contract so more cap space becomes available without having to act on Carr.

It would be nice but I'm not getting my hopes up yet because everybody is going after Hardy early,,, just like everybody wants a Ferrari until they see the sticker price.

If they sign him he's probably going to get a Melton type deal. Probably be a little more money year 1 than Melton saw however.

He surely is the only impact DL left out there that could actually improve the pass rush. Waiting for the draft/develop. @ this position will take too long considering the team's window with Romo.

My question is, do you get the 2010-'11 3.5 sack a year guy, the 2012-'13 13 sack a year guy, or does he punch another woman and you get the 2014 1 sack guy....

Didn't they add a couple dominate DT's in '12-13? Could that correlate to his production? We don't have anything close to that sort of tandem here.

I don't think it would be that easy. Melton only agreed to that deal because the market wasn't too high on a player returning from a major injury.

True and in real life...you would think the same would said about a player like him with his character issues. Guess not.

I'll respectfully disagree.

I think his money will be closer to $10 million than $15 million.
