5 years 27MM 10 guaranteed - schefter

It's actually a very smart move. A 3rd corner is pretty much a starter in this league. Newman will probably be gone after this season anyway, and we can plug scandrick in his position.

They gave him this contract based on practice right?

I guess it COULD work out great for us if he has a really good year. That's a very big if though.

Can't imagine this move being made without Ryan's blessing so I'm cool with it. If we expect him to turn the defense around let's give him a shot to do it with the players he wants. This would seem to say that he clearly wants Orlando here and thinks he fits his defense.

Great deal. Shows you what they think of him, and did it before he became a FA

For those that think it's not a good deal you don't know football. He only has been playing the toughest position on the field outside of QB since he was a rookie. There is a reason that the eagles are putting Asoumgha in the slot!

Going rate of average CB's we have seen this off season coupled with what we are likely to see next year Jerry actually got in under the radar and probably this time next year we will be thinking he got a deal.

Newman's last year i'm sure and I'm sure we'll be addressing CB in the draft and offseason. Decent deal.

Rob Ryan doesn't have to give his blessing does he? I'm not sure he's earned that yet.
