Mosher had said the Cowboys weren't done poaching from the Colts' analytics staff. So maybe this isn't it.

Ambar cant even name the 11 offensive starters on the 2022 roster last year. Iisha Morris even worse. They found her on Tic Tok. I guess THIS hire might be ok. At least she has 3 years' experience.
I don't understand the hate for Iisha. I dig her commentary.

CMU no joke…good for her. What I’ve heard from her so far on interviews was compelling. It will be amazing for her to take ML to this thing and articulate some deep analysis only to hear , “we like our guys…obviously”

Cowboys Hire Sarah Mallepalle; More Analytics for More Playoff Wins?

The Dallas Cowboys continue to beef up their analytics department by hiring former Baltimore Ravens analyst Sarah Mallepalle

The Dallas Cowboys are focusing heavily on their analytics department this offseason, and they just added to it again on Saturday with the hiring of Sarah Mallepalle as a Strategic Football Analyst.

For the last four seasons, Mallepalle has been a player personnel analyst for the Baltimore Ravens. The Ravens have been very analytically-savvy in that time, and have been one of the better teams in the league with a 43-23 record and three postseason appearances. While not in charge of the Ravens' analytics department, she was still a key resource and should be a key addition in Dallas.

Mallepalle is the second big addition the Cowboys have made to their analytics department in recent weeks. On June 7, they hired John Park as their director of strategic football operations. Park was previously the Director of Football Research with the Indianapolis Colts, a position he worked his way up to over seven years with the organization. He takes over the role from Tom Robinson, who had held it for over a decade but parted ways with the Cowboys before the draft.

The report does not indicate if Mallepalle was discharged from the Ravens or if she quit the coaching support staff team for a better paying opportunity or change of scenery.

Does her analytics say ... when it is 3rd and 1 ... go for the first down on a high % success play ... instead of trying to be cute and run a stupid trick play or throw a 40 yards pass trying to catch them off guard.
Bonus analytic ... especially the above concept at key moments in a game.

If she passes that then she will be great. otherwise, she is the same as Kellen Moore.

I am a teacher, so speaking in front of groups happens on the daily. I simply cna not listen to someone that constantly repeats "Uhm," over and over and over again. It distracts from the message and I actually get to the point where I start counting how many times they say Uhm.

The Patriots used to combine this sort of analysis with behavioral experts, body language experts and lip readers. That was half of Tom Brady's game. He was in tight with the analytics department.
Don’t forget “video analysis “

It sounded like she cleaned that up in more recent speaking ingagements.

I would seek help for that condition. Sounds like something may be stuck up where it shouldn’t.

As a fan of the organization, I just want to know if she's free for dinner Saturday night.

I watched a doc a few years back about "pro" gamblers who would hire an entire team of analytics people. They had different guys for everything and were careful as to make sure none of the analysts knew or even met one another. It's still gambling and you can't account for everything, but these guys win a lot more than they lose.
when picking cards from a deck, or rolling dice, analytics simply work, because probability can be calculated. Baseball, it absolutely works, thats why they started using the shift and stopped bunting. Basketball, it works, thats why teams will pop it out on a 3 on 2 fastbreak and shoot a three.

Football? SO many variables to consider that it makes analytics way harder to use.

Someone that bats .350 bats .350. But someone that runs a 4.4 forty and can bench 225lbs 40 reps..... can that equate to football productivity? Apparently people think that it can be effective.

I agree, and that why you need an entire team. He spoke of analyzing very minute details in depth. If you can sift through the dirt there is gold.

Mallepalle joins the Cowboys with the title of Strategic Football Analyst, which would seemingly make her the second-in-command under Park in the Cowboys’ football analytics department.

Mallepalle comes over from the Ravens, where she has been a Player Personnel Analyst for the past four seasons. She was one of a handful of analytics staffers hired in Baltimore after the 2018 season, as the organization sought a revamping of sorts that made them one of the most analytically-inclined franchises in football. Since then, the Ravens have gone 43-23 with three postseason trips, in addition to fueling a furious debate over the role of analytics in football decision-making.

While Mallepalle was not the one in charge of the Ravens’ analytics department during that time, she was a key cog in the machine that created one of the NFL’s most efficient teams over the last four years. She assisted with analytics research in a variety of areas, including game planning and draft preparation. General Manager Eric DeCosta singled her out for undertaking a project in determining the best receiver prospect fits for the team ahead of the 2021 NFL Draft.

Her analytic work resulted in the Ravens targeting Rashod Bateman and Tylan Wallace the year DeCosta singled her out. They've been two of the bigger draft busts in recent history by an otherwise good drafting team. This smells more like the Ravens let her walk than the Cowboys stole her away.
