Cowboys HOF Snubs

Drew Pearson? He is simply not one of the greatest WRs of all time. He does not crack top 50 in ANY statistical category. That's not a snub. That's good voting.

Then explain Lynn Swann. Also not in the top 50 of any category.

336 catches.

Antonio freakin' Bryant already has 210.

so its mostly about stats? look how far down Roger is, and then go considerably below that to find Joe Namath

as for wide receivers how far down is Swann?

read my comments on the pro bowls -- it isn't all about stats -- but stats are one indicator of performance -- as are pro bowls. How does a guy who was voted by his peers to the pro bowl only 3 times in his career warrant the highest league honor. his own team didn't even put him in the ring of honor.

I've said this like 50 times already -- if you look at Swann -- who is likely the worst receiver in the Hall and use him as your yardstick then you would be ruining the Hall with all the mediocre players that got in. Look at the average WR in the Hall. Then you tell me whether Pearson stacks up.

3-time ProBowler? That's a good player. That is not an HoF player. Best of the Best.

In my book the Best of the Best should be in the Pro Bowl more often than not. different era or not -- his peers voted him to the pro bowl only 3 times. that tells you alot about how good he was right there.

My point was that in addition to all he brought to the table he was NOT ONLY a probowler but also an ALL Pro. He brought more than stats to the table.

And like I said. Good player yes. Hall of Famer. No. He just didn't have that sort of career.

How long did it take Swann to get in? Just curious.

Let me see....

the Cowboys are down with less than 2 minutes to go in the game.... everybody and their dogs know it is going to be a pass and everybody and their dogs know it is going to Drew Pearson...who will be there and catch it..

time and time again...

that is big time

that is stuff of legends

that is HOF

Charles Haley was an instrumental part of five championship teams. He should get in. Richard Dent too.

Deny all you want regarding Drew Pearson not being worth of being a Hall of Famer. He was Roger Staubach's primary receiver throughout the Cowboys success in the 70s.

He may not have the glittery statistics and showmanship that we've grown accustomed to, but back then, there were only a handful of receivers in his class.

Unless you followed the Cowboys intimately during that period, it would be somewhat difficult to appreciate some of these old-timers contribution to the success of this organization.
