You’d think after our first consecutive 12 win playoff seasons since the 90’s would be enough to hype and build a renewed hope but fans were very frustrated after bowing out early again in the playoffs.

The Cowboys set new futility marks with longest playoff stretch ( 12 appearances) without a championship appearance and most divisional playoff appearances without a championship appearance. It’s now the longest drought in NFL history.

The Cowboys are now in a championship appearance mode or bust. And Jethro Jone$ appears to be listening to the outcry from fans . Well except for removing the oldest GM in NFL history , he is making some noise in FA . He even released Elliott.

Thus far he’s basically making some trades and contract moves most of his hardened critics would support. This is what our dysfunctional ownership does best. He listens to the outcry’s to re-embrace a frustrated and disillusioned fanbase . Except perhaps for the most important move needed.

Those conclusions are extremely large leap in logic. 34 years of Jerry Jones suggest the exact opposite correlation.

I don't see that it's "or bust" in that with the moves the Cowboys have made they haven't given up top draft picks or committed to major long term contracts. Cooks' contract is pretty pricey, but still only 2 years.

That’s not what I was referring to . Not that these trades or moves were “ or bust” but each season is.

Cooks is basically a 1 year, as he is cut befire June 1 next year, no loss and only gain.

Gillmore is only this year as well.

CeeDee lamb’s last year as well.

This team is shackled by Dak’s contract. Arguably dumbest contract in history.

If they don’t improve this year, time to blow it completely up.

How would we define improve this year?
Championship game ??

And if we made it to playoffs for third straight season which would be first time since 90’s, then you’d say it’s time to blow it up if we don’t improve which has to mean championship game or bust.

I kind of realize that’s what you meant after I went back and read it and we agree.

:muttley:

That being said, while they do benefit the team, this all comes down to the QB. We lost because of the QB.

i agree that the team has been a very pleasant surprise during the FA period, and i am certainly happy about the outcome so far....i will say however that we have yet to sign a single FA (not a previous cowboys player) which is very intriguing!

Hard to say if the are championship game or bust, but i will certainly say that they are making some fantastic moves. The two trades were phenomenal value (as has been reported across the league) and they have kept a few guys that we thought were gone plus got rid of the worst contract / player in zeke, add in the restructures for some of the players (esp Tyron) and they have the team in the best offseason position i can recall in a long time.

Kinda crazy to have two 12 wins seasons in the rearview and a great offseason staring us in the face as the draft approaches....really feels like they have turned the corner.

I know you weren't saying the trades themselves were a bust, but I think of "championship game or bust" as meaning the moves will have some longer term consequences, so they need to result in a win now to be worthwhile.

Bowing out early is the first round Not the 2nd round.

and why are we championship mode or bust? Because of cook? It’s the only thing that has changed.

sf has gotten better and that’s the one team we can’t beat.

our biggest weaknesses on D and O have not been addressed yet.

If PHL and SF have to play each other in the earlier rounds, the Cowboys chances of being in the NFCCG improve significantly.

I think the effects of Brady retiring and Rodgers leaving the NFC have applied pressure on Booger to seize the opportunity.
