I think Bailey is a great kicker, but he wasn't a pro-bowler this season. Most of that is because he just hasn't been given a lot of FG opportunities. His 22 FGs ranked 19th this season for number of FGs made and his 26 attempts ranks 20th.. He ranks 16th in FG%. I don't know if Vinatieri is the guy who should go, but he hasn't missed on any of his 28 attempts.

Bailey - 22 of 26 (84.6%)
Gostkowski - 32 of 34 (94.1%)
Vinatieri - 28 of 28 (100%)

Don't misplace your faith here. Bailey is money, but facts are facts.

Two of Bailey's missed kicks were blocked. Not his fault.

Good for him. It will continue to cement his HOF legacy.

Yeah that's what I was thinking. Getting to 8 Pro Bowls is HOF worthy and with his sack numbers that should be enough. I mean players like Ray Lewis and others didn't deserve Pro Bowls later in their career but name recognition helped. It's like embellishing on your work resume. Lewis didn't really have 13 Pro Bowl seasons but it shows up that way on his resume.

Viniateri over Bailey smh

Hasn't Viniateri not missed a FG attempt this season? If so, he deserves to go over Bailey. Just because Bailey has the best percentage all time does not mean he's been the best this season.

My vague recollection of a couple article Peter King has written about the process is that really look at All-Pro selections for HoF consideration as opposed to Pro-bowl... especially recently nowadays where it's not common to see the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd alternate make it because of players sitting out for Superbowl, injury, etc

Still, I am happy with Ware.

Take those two out and his FG% would still be less than Vinatieri's and Gostkowski's.

Viniatieri degree of difficulty is a little less too. Bailey's attempted 16 from 40+, Viniatieri 10 from 40+ but it's hard to argue with perfection.

No defensive players....like McClain? On his effort alone he should have got in.

I think a couple of them are close enough that when we improve the line some more, they will get their just due.

All Pro definitely carries more weight but Pro Bowls, championships definitely help push you further.

Bailey could be All Pro maybe?

Nope. Murray is a sure-fire All-Pro while Martin and Frederick could sneak in. Bryant will have a tougher time due to his lack of yards.
