I dont know hockey but can go out on a limb and guess Eklund = crappy reporter who just guesses at stuff and tries to present it with some level of legitimacy.

Pretty much. Had some connections with the Flyers(IIRC) but makes up trade rumors during the season which have a scale of least likely(E1) to highly likely(E5).
Does it for clicks/views to his site.

Total garbage, anyone could connect the dots from Dallas to Brate. Tampa is going with OJ and we need a TE. Hell I could've made that erroneous report. I never saw anything to legitimize it. It held about as much water as us getting James from Pittsburgh. Definitely an E1 right, lol.
