Looks like we might be going with more of a committee approach on the front in order to spend more money on the back end with linebackers/secondary, kind of how Seattle has done it.

Most teams playing in a 4-3 base are going in that direction now.

Honestly, I think bringing in a guy like Revis would be going backwards.

Agreed, if we have to begin rebuilding mode then so be it, but we have to stop the ovespending on questionable players. Revis is good in systems like the Ryan's run, not worth squat in a cover 2.

Absolutely. We have corners already who are good at press man coverage.

We try to reload the defensive line this year. Play the season, see what happens.

If that doesn't work, we have $30M in cap space next year without even making any changes and will be able to really address positions like linebacker (Luke Keuchley?) safety, or even CB (Sherman) if we need to.

We're setting ourselves up the right way. And hopefully when we start winning a lot, players will do the Michael Bennett and take less to stay and keep the "band together" in order to keep winning, since winning = more money anyway.

I'm all for a rotation. I've seen several teams (90s Cowboys, recent Giant teams, and Seattle) take this approach with great success.

Even if he fit the scheme, I would be against it. I really believe in the "build through the draft" approach. We've been trying to win for year by bringing in big names, signing huge contracts, and it's gotten us nowhere. Draft well, keep your homegrown talent, and bring in mid-tier FA's.

Just like your username, speed kills. And offenses are starting to use lots of speed, which kills your fat boys up front.

How do you figure? If anything, we're heading in the right direction with building via the draft, and bringing in mid-tier FA's.

Keep drinking that Jerrah Kool-aid... I don't understand fans... they complain about Jerrah one day and then trust his personnel moves the next! Denver isn't stupid, they JUMPED on Ware and paid him MORE money that we where going to! Obviously he still has value... and now we are signing 46 more rotational guys! I hope to GOD I'm wrong, but to me this thing feels like the start of a 4-12 season with A total blow up and Hopefully a Bill Parcells type hire to rebuild it! AGAIN!
Everything that Bill did here to build a winning program, Jerrah has un-done and now we are hitting the bottom... We have a Horrible defense and a worse scheme... we have an injured, aging QB. Our RB is ok until his next paper cut. our Oline is better but not great. Our Best asset is a WR, That about 3 games a year we can't get the ball to. Now the "face" of our D is another guy that we have to monitor shaving because we could lose him for 4-6 weeks when he does that!

I'm all about the draft, but this organization has a proven track record of failing to draft players!

So I guess i'll ask "How do you figure" we aren't?

You might be the first person to ever accuse me of "drinking the Cowboys Kool-Aid". Where's my friend, Romosexual? Here's one thing he'll vouch for.

So let me pick your brain a little. For years now, we've been amongst the biggest spenders in the league, how has that worked out for us? When was the last time going big in FA has paid off for a team?

So do you want Jerry to go overspend for a big name or do it like Seattle did last year and get a lot of affordable solid glue guys? Cap hell guys should love these type of signings.

Your post confuses me.

If he's a dominant run defender and not much else, how is he a lot like Hatcher whose best attribute is his ability to collapse the pocket and get to the QB?

Before this season hatcher's career high was 6 sacks . With the chance to start full time under the right scheme he flourished . McDaniel has the same body type and attributes hatcher has . He isn't as good but he does collapse the pocket and gets lots of reach tackles with his long arms . He could be a poor mans Jason hatcher . After watching mcdaniel closely no doubt he could easily get 6-8 sacks in our scheme starting .
