Probably can't be any worse than we have right now.

He'd upgrade either G spot and he could probably play C too. It'd be a nice signing. Assuming it wasn't a huge deal. He's not worth that.

I think it was JJ or SJ who said a couple weeks ago they wanted a player who had OG/OC versatility either via fa or the Draft.

Slauson was the 31st rated guard per PFF.

That would make him middle of the pack then as there are 64 starting guards in the NFL. Probably better then any guard we currently have on the roster.

In all seriousness, he's a pretty decent guard. No pro bowler but quite solid. A bigger/stronger version of Kosier.

People are having to qualify how bad he might be, because we haven't signed him yet. Why am I feeling Matt Slauson might be getting a lot less talented in just a matter of a few days? Poor thing.

Hey! Now who was the first person on the board to suggest we sign this guy? Pretty sure he was a super smart, witty, handsome chap that looks a whole lot like.................ME! :D

Actually,...like I said long ago, signing Slauson would make a ton of sense. Not only do we desperately need interior lineman, he knows Callahans system from playing under him at the New York Jets. Not only that, Callahan coached and recruited him when the two were at Nebraska.

Long history there.

He'd really be a good fit, as long as there isn't a real bidding war that inflates his price. He's a solid player. He moves well. He has a connection to Callahan at the Jets and Nebraska. He's been durable and like I said he is a possibility to play C if need be. I would consider him a Kyle Kosier type.

And if somehow we ended up with Cooper or Warmack in Round 1, we could move Slauson to OC - or even play Cooper at OC and Slausen at OG. The versatility would be nice.

Smith Warmack Slauson Livings Parnell.

Hey, it would be better than last year.

If we draft Warmack I plan on getting arrested for public indecency.

They are football idiots. LOL Slauson is actually one of the better pass blocking guards in the league. Romo says THANX! But as a run blocker he is only so so. Not due to lack of size or strength though,....Slauson is plenty big and strong. He does tend to struggle a bit in space getting out in the 2nd level in the run game.

Good pass blocker indeed. And so-so with run blocking? Hell, I wish we had that last year. Major upgrade.

Fine by me. I hate the the idea of buring a top 20 pick on a guard.

then who do you suggest we draft?

Lets just eliminate all the positions we do not need to draft that high this year if at all: QB, WR, RB, CB, TE, DE (to a degree because we do have spencer and Ware)

ok now who is left:

Safety, yeah I can see that, it is a genuine and important need, especially with Sensebaugh gone

DLineman? normally that would be ok, but for us - an off. guard is much more important need this year

I think anywhere on the line is needed with maybe the Tackle spot being the least needed of the 5 spots due to having T Smith and possible emergence of Parnell.
