Cowboys interviewing OL coach Paul Alexander

I could coach OL for this team.

"Smith, don't bend over. Cooper, don't move your legs. Frederick and Martin, good work. Collins, don't go to Smith's back doctor. Green and Bell, go detail my truck."

We sure do love our Bengals, Lions, and any other coach we can find from a loser franchise.
The man is well respected, so why criticize? Not every assistant coach can come from New England.

I would actually approve of this hire.Andrew Whitworth is a stud left tackle, not possessing the greatest physical skills, but a guy who succeeds because of technique, experience, and hard work. Take a look at the impact he immediately had for the Rams. Whitworth learned it from Alexander.

Also take a look at guard Kevin Zeitler, currently the best paid at his position. Until Martin gets his deal of course. But this guy's coaching helped get him that deal.

If anything, I think some personnel misses and talent obviously leaving for more money elsewhere had a lot to do with the Bengals struggles.

If for no other reason, I like a coach with experience over a "coach" with none.

From the Archer article on ESPN.

"A source said Tom Cable, who was fired by the Seattle Seahawks and was a college teammate of offensive coordinator Scott Linehan is also a candidate."

This name would surprise me, because I see Cable as a "running game" guy and Linehan as a "not running game guy".

:omg:

I have this blind faith that the head coach wants to keep his job, and so, he, more than anyone, even us high-intel fans, is going to make solid decisions as to who is going to be on his staff.

Where I get nervous is when GMs and owners and GM/owners start making those decisions (... as appears to be the explicit attitude of my baseball team). They just don't have the same kind of dog in that particular fight, and I don't trust them as much.

So the only 2 guys to make the pro bowl are because of him and the other 10 drafted in the top 3 rounds who failed is because of personnel choices.
Got it.

Meh. Very uninspiring. Nor surprising.
Pretty pathetic tbh

Bengals fans couldn't wait to get rid if him....

1st 2 picks of 2015 were OT . Neither developed....
Might be more of an indictment of the GM/scouting...

so was Hudson Houck when he came back. I worry this guy is burned out. His last couple of years have not looked too good. Lots of draft choices not working out.

The two big failed picks are more about injury.

Plus the Bengals let Whitworth and Zeitler go. Whit was the leader of that OL and has been huge for the Rams. Z signed with the Browns. Obviously, Cincy has no commitment to real OL investment. Can you imagine how much he wants this job?

I never said that. Neither Pro or con should be absolute. Credit and blame.

Damn. Alexander has been with Cinci for 24 years. He's gotta be tired of looking at fat O liners *****. Can I say that here?
