Cowboys interviewing OL coach Paul Alexander

c'mom guys. Y'all yellin for more playoff games. The Bengals have been there 4 times in the past 7 seasons. I assume the OC was part of that. Maybe it was all Lewis

I would actually approve of this hire.Andrew Whitworth is a stud left tackle, not possessing the greatest physical skills, but a guy who succeeds because of technique, experience, and hard work. Take a look at the impact he immediately had for the Rams. Whitworth learned it from Alexander.

Also take a look at guard Kevin Zeitler, currently the best paid at his position. Until Martin gets his deal of course. But this guy's coaching helped get him that deal.

If anything, I think some personnel misses and talent obviously leaving for more money elsewhere had a lot to do with the Bengals struggles.

If for no other reason, I like a coach with experience over a "coach" with none.

Yup.

Bengals lose Zeitler and Whitworth. IT should be obvious why their offense tanked. It would be similar to us losing Martin and Smith.

The only issue I have with the hire is that Alexander ran a gap scheme and we are a ZBS. Of course both teams mixed it up but we are talking different fortes.

Anyone know where Tony Sparano is? Might as well bring him up since teams just change coaches like underwear and retreads abound.

Tony Sporano Jr. is the jaguars assistant offensive line coach, like columbo is here.

sort of like a retread.

Meh, never to old to learn :)

I'm curious as well. For my own tastes, as good as our offensive line and running game is - and it is - I've felt for a while that they could be even better in the short yardage stuff.

Maybe a hire like Alexander would help in that area?

If it happens, it will be interesting to watch the two teams after Pollack took the Bengals job. Somebody is going to look right and somebody's going to look wrong

We tried bringing him back in 2012 to save Garrett’s play calling suckage, but he took the Jets job.

That being said we got Callahan which was way better.

But we run different scheme now than what we did with Callahan as far as I remember.

What an absolute **** show. These coaching moves are supposed to be improvements? Well at least I only have to suffer through Garrett for one more season if this keeps up.

Bengals hire Cowboys OL coach. So now they are going to consider hiring the Bengals OL coach? Yeah OK.

Just a question for the board here, what does an "inspiring" OL coach hire look like? Is it someone trendy from college? Is it Marc Columbo? Do we just google search "top 5 O-lines" and try to poach from that staff?

There's really a lot that goes into the hiring process. Sometimes it just doesn't work out. But for the most part I think the FO knows where we want to be and have an idea generally of what coaches are better for the players and culture that are being built up.

When the loser Bengals don't want you, that sends up warning flags for me.

And while we are on that topic, why are we getting all our coaches from loser franchises like the Bengals and Lions? Seriously, cant we go raid the Pats or Pitts coaching staffs, or maybe Green Bay's or Atlanta's or even Seattle's? You know, good teams that actually have won playoff games.

Bengal's OL coach..................wow:facepalm:

So we fired our OL coach and they hire him and they fire their OL coach and we are going to hire him, makes you wonder?
