Cowboys invite 14 to rookie camp tryout

The Cowboys have invited 14 players to this weekend’s rookie mini-camp in hopes of finding another Bass, including three players with local ties: Houston linebacker Everett Daniels (Sachse) and two Texas Tech-exes, wide receiver Darrin Moore (Irving MacArthur) and long snapper Jesse Smitherman (Burleson).

The other invitees are: tight end B.J. Stewart (Cumberland), wide receiver Anthony Amos (Middle Tennessee), tackle James Nelson (UTEP), defensive end Tremayne Scott (Ohio), defensive lineman Jerome Long (San Diego State), defensive tackle Nick Johnson (Baylor), defensive tackle DiMetrio Tyson (Jacksonville State), running back Robbie Rouse (Fresno State), offensive lineman D.J. Hall (Texas State), guard Micah James (Middle Tennessee) and cornerback Adrien Spencer (Bowling Green).

These are camp bodies who are getting a chance to be seen by either Dallas or other teams.
It's great opportunity.
Our snapper is set, but you can't have him wearing himself out doing 100% of the reps.

At some point you would like to find someone that doesn't cost you a million a year to snap the ball.

Interesting that Robbie Rouse was not even a priority UDFA for any team. Some people wanted to draft him in the 4th round if I recall correctly.

I'm pulling for Adrien Spencer, cornerback from Bowling Green. Heaven knows the Cowboys need some CB backups, and I'd love to see my alma mater put a guy on the squad.

I think that is actually a position we don't need a backup at.

After the draft though, Dallas now has four CBs locked in. And if you add Sterling Moore, that makes 5. They may rotate Moore to FS though.

WR Anthony Amos from MTS father & uncle played high school football with my brother & 2 cousins. He put up good numbers for MTS. I hope he does well!

I'll take it, but I'll stay up at night worrying about our 6th and 7th positions.
