I agree. Winning the whole thing is difficult and often not about being the best team, but catching the right breaks at the right time.

They are good enough to be in the mix.

It’s not win it all or failure, especially given the NFCCG drought.

That’s why it’s important to enjoy the ride instead of spending an 11-12 win season moaning over how Dak will choke in the end.

Took me a while to embrace that.
And that’s really all Jethro is focused on. Staying interesting and relative . Those were his words .

It is what it is. And why we must adjust and evaluate our own expectations. I’ve been saying it for years . Lol

Despite my criticism of the old fool I respect him laying it out there there for everyone . Too bad everyone can’t accept it . Maybe it would make the impact I’ve always argued is only way to bring about change .

Loser mentality
It’s a winning mentality for him as he can stay in place doing it his way without hurting his top revenue stream.

Like I’ve argued for years he’s more interested in maintaining a playoff contender he can hype and promote than taking a chance of hitting rock bottom and having to start over .

It’s why I’ve also argued no other fans would want an owner like him. There’s been one constant this era thru several coaches and QB’s and even at age 80 it’s not going away anytime soon.

It is what it is. And why expectations must be adjusted . Tough era being a Cowboy fan. Try to enjoy as much as you can as there is always a glimmer of hope but place SB hopes on the back burner .

It would mean the GM failed at his job if he had to blow up the team.

Our GM never fails. Always has his angle protected.
He can sell and hype the hell of a team like this. No one has ever done it better.

People in here still don’t get it

The Jones’ are on record , multiple times, stating that being competitive is more important than winning the Super Bowl. They’re not willing to tear it down because of the domino effect of having a cellar dweller season would have. Tv ratings, attendance, concession money, etc. They lose hundreds of millions in a rebuilding season - forget about a multiple year rebuild to tear it all down. They’re not interested in doing it.

Jerry knows that he doesn't need a SB to make unimaginable amounts of money. Sometimes he lets that slip out even though he knows it, we know and everyone else knows it.
And that’s what I love about him. He tells us he’s going to cram it down our throats and we let him. Truly amazing. He must laugh all the way to the bank .

He says this every year, the barometer is not winning SBs but competing for them (ie. Making the playoffs)

No team cleans house because they didn’t win the SB
Besides Kellen Moore, Zeke, and Schultz, who else did we let go?

I took it as he rather have a shot each year instead of blowing it up if we don't win the SB this year. And he will be right.

I can tell you all of the local fans I’m close to get it. And why the apathetic attitudes and constant criticism of our owner.

It’s why our local TV audience is one of the lowest percentage wise in the NFL and we have so many opposing fans at the stadium.

While Jethro Jone$ is most hated sports personality in DFW area our Cowboys are still the most loved . It’s a mixed bag of feelings . If only the rest of Cowboys Nation would get on board.

No surprise to me . I’ve been arguing this isn’t a SB or Bust scenario.

I often attempt to focus on where Jethro’s intentions and instincts are directed providing my insight of over 30 years following him closely on what he’s thinking or going to do.

This is just another example like with Prescotts salary extension how he is responding to public perception and the media.

It’s truly amazing . No other owner or GM responds to such publicly as he does . He’s like an elected public official who’s always trying to sway public opinion with his spin and responding to it.

Unfortunately it’s worked for him as he’s able to continue hyping and promoting his product despite lack of more success on the field and it supports his own words that the priority is “ maintaining interest and relative “.
It's never a SB or bust with him. As long as we can compete for a playoff spot he's happy.

From an expectations standpoint it's probably NFCCG or bust. From a perspective of should Jerry blow up the team this offeason and start over Arizona Cardinals style I tend to agree with him. While it would be quite a show to see this offseason Jerry moving guys like Lamb, Parsons, Martin, etc for high draft picks means we might have to sit through a couple of Dave Campo type seasons before football is interesting again.

Maybe this reality will encourage the trolls to follow another team.

I'm not sure how this idiotic meme of the "entitled fan" who expects their team to compete for and win a SB once in a while came to be. As if it isn't EVERY fans' reason for being a fan. Not only that, but the type of people that actually think this is some sort of high brained gotcha needs a case study.
