Cowboys lingering problem on defense is still their pass rush

Of course . But I’ll maintain that with an upgraded defensive roster which will be much improved over last year the biggest concern remains is will we have a formidable pass rush.
I mean until we see them do it the whole defense is a concern because we haven’t seen them against a formidable offense.

We haven’t seen Miller, Gary or Eze yet. So tough to really know and probably won’t know for a couple of weeks.

I have to disagree.

W/ our DT's, we only need decent pass rushers. Gary is more than decent, so all we need is one dude to play the other side and get 6-12 sacks. Being a good D is far more than just counting sacks.

I’m not sure why it’s so alarming for some fans to state concerns.

It remains the topic of conversation and concern around the local media this morning.

How improved will our pass rush be ? And will it be enough?? Seems like a fair question to me.

Th Achilles heel for this defense has been their run defense with and without parsons. I am confident if they get teams in 3rd down and distance their rush will be far more effective

Sacks is over rated but pressure and causing havoc isn’t .

Not worried since no starter was playing

and we have had great Pass Rushers in the past and what did it get us?

NOTHING.

Ware and Parsons; one in the HOF and one probably will get there.

Show me the hardware we got from having them?
SEA won the super bowl last season. 7th in sacks. No player on their D had more than 7.

Jerry has way too many fans convinced that playing D is only about sacks and edge rushers.

Philly won the previous super bowl, 13th in sacks. No player had more than 8.

Interior disruption is much more important than edge rushers. Yes, you do want both, beyond any doubt, but interior disruption is what wins super bowls, not edge rushers.

It’s just that you insinuated that they don’t have a formidable pass rush when you haven’t even seen the pass rush yet. Now you’re moving the goal posts all over the place.

Correct. And we now have the interior disruption to actually win playoff games. Gary is a stud on the weak side, and I'm pretty sure out of EZ/Malachi/vonMiller we'll have at least a decent rush from that side.

Have to agree w/ Rocky on this one. Our DT starters didn't even play. You can bet your booty that those inside runs and time in the pocket are greatly reduced if the front is Q/Clark/Ogboner. Would've been a completely different D.

That’s what some are saying. Others are saying it’s still a major concern going in.
I will go by what the coaches said. They like where the pass rush is, within Parker's scheme.
And also my own instincts over the same fans saying the same thing over and over. That most the times turn out wrong.

Let me rephrase the conversation for some who appear to struggle with discussing concerns .

If there is a weakness in our improved defense where could it be?

Would pass rush lead the list of concerns on defense ?

No, I'm still concerned about LB and possibly CB. Love what I'm seeing at both so far, don't get me wrong, but preseason is still preseason.

The last 2 super bowl winners had only average edge rushers.
Exactly.
And someone will merge as a sack leader over others. But that does not mean they are a superstar.
They are taking advantage of the opportunity that is created.

Remember 4 or 5 years ago. Before Micah. Dallas did not have a big leader in sacks, as a different player stepped up each game to get sacks.
But they were consistent all year long. And did not disappear in December.
