"Some Guys Says Dallas Needs a Receiver"

Higgins is basically untradeable because no team is going to give up premium picks as a rental and if they do then they have 0 contract leverage. Cinci has no incentive to trade him for less than a 2nd because he's going to fetch 3rd round comp value anyway.
Yeah the fact he's gonna need a contract immediately is the fly in the ointment. If anyone makes a deal it's because they think he's the final piece in a superbowl run. I doubt he goes anywhere this year.

Here we go again. Every time a player is rumored to be on the trading block, the Cowboys are rumored to be interested in a deal. This time it is Tee Higgins, of the Bengals - because Cooks has been put on IR. None of these rumors ever come true but the media continues the same game.

The Cowboys should take their medicine this year. Save their CAP space and draft picks and do something big next year. Of course I am dreaming.
i say lets go all in as Jerry promised....its not too late....we got money to get Higgins...or whatever....not into trashing a season....just my lowly opinion

Now THIS I would love, but I've crunched the numbers and it equals-zero % chance of happening.

My thinking is, we all cry that its hard to build a perfect roster with a highly paid QB, but IMO they should at least try to be great at something, the run game, the pass game or the pass rush. Right now they are not great or very good at anything.
we need another receiver a RB and 1-tech.....so lets mortgage our future and do it....just have a crummy GM mentality for one year

Cowbys only make trades in-season in desperation. Maybe if our offense had been shut down in Pittsburgh without Cooks, the team would be looking to do something. The fact that the backups (particularly Tolbert and Turpin) stepped up means that there would be no interest at this time. And that's completely understandable. Could change if we struggle against Detroit and San Fran, but it would probably depend then on when Cooks is expected back.

Dallas can't afford him.
Yup. Can’t afford anyone apparently.

Gallups dead money this year and next are exactly what Henry makes per year. Steele will bank 17 million next year. Isn’t it great how they outsmart the rest of the league and sign guys who get injured late in a season? What an advantage!

I suppose a Sam Williams extension for more than he would ever get on the open market is next, then claim cap poverty.

For what it's worth, Higgins would cost the Cowboys about $15 million against the CAP in 2024 if the trade was made today.

But he is a free agent next year and I don't think he would be worth re-signing. This is why I would not make the deal. He is a one year rental and the Cowboys have bigger problems than WR.
WR is absolutely one of the biggest problems in the team. The issue isn’t that there isn’t a need for a WR. The issue is the contract situation of the player.

The Cowboys are also possible trade partners for Patrick Mahomes, should the Chiefs decide to part ways with him.......so is 30 other teams.

The probable truth?

Some sports journalist was sweating a deadline.

Appears taking our medicine this year is what we’re going to do. The Joneses made it clear they wanted to go with young players this season. If we re-sign Parsons we won’t be doing anything big next year. A big move would be to trade him and add players that way.

4 all pro WRs would not make any difference as long as Dak’s under center.

I'd rather have Higgins at 25 years old.
If we had the funds to extend either of them, sure. The thing is we don't. Is it possible to fit them under the cap? Ya, sure...but we already have some glaring holes that need to be filled. It's going to cost roughly $25m/y to extend Higgins and we already have around $90m invested in Lamb and Dak. At least Adams is already under contract for the next couple of seasons. The Raiders would eat the guaranteed money and we could get out of his bloated salary if necessary.

We already have Tolbert in place who's starting to turn it on. Turpin is getting more action in the passing game. If it's determined we need more juice at WR, we'd be better off drafting one. I just don't see any way we can field a competitive team with that much cash tied into one aspect of the team. I'm already weary with Dak and Lamb.

Good point, and it makes it a lot more realistic option.

Where's the rumor? This appears to be more like someone's opinion.
