Like I said, if you aren't even seeing Julian Hawkins, Rudy Carpenter, Jessie Holley, et al hit the field in pre-season game sit is safe to say that they aren't impressing the coaches enough to earn even that right.

Bag on Courtney Brown, Isaiah Stanback, and Cory Procter all you want, they at least are being given chances by the coaching staff to show them something.

You are not alone in not realizing this. Many fans want these guys cut right now. It is never going to happen that way. I hate to burst that bubble but if you have paid attention to NFL History you will find that some guys make the team even if they screw up a lot in pre-season. This happens despite fan and media disapproval. Why? Because in practices or somewhere else, the team and staff see something in that player worth trying to refine.

No charge for the lesson.

We don't even need to see anything in them. We just need bodies to play this meaningless game against Minnesota.

I want Procter gone too. I just expect them to go with Preston over him on the salary difference alone. Preston is 620,000 to Procter's 1.5+ Million.

We tend to view the Watkins and Procters of the world as being terrible. But that's only because they were good enough to get a chance to get enough playing time to look terrible.

In other words, they've earned the right to suck.

Don't get me wrong--I'll be perfectly happy to see both of them go (as well as a few other 'veterans'). I just don't expect the guys who would be taking their place to come in and do any better, if necessary. They'll probably suck, too. Because the guys across the line from them don't suck as much.

This is a very good point. The "he can't be any worse" argument is really very uninformed when you consider that these are players that the coaches thought enough of to give them some time. How many players can't even make a team? How would they be better than the guy who makes a team, earns playing time, and struggles?

If he's as bad as we apparently think around here, who would bother to trade for him?

You are certainly free to believe what ever you want to believe. But to believe that it doesn't make you right or wrong, is not true. It absolutely DOES make you wrong if you believe cutting someone who played bad when roster cuts are due anyway is anything but wrong.

I can believe with all my heart, the that sky is not blue. But, that belief would still be WRONG, no matter how much I believe it.....

The sky isn't blue though - the blue tinge is simply light bending over the atmosphere. :laugh1:

You must be talking about the one where Procter was absolutely certain he was not going to get called for false start.
