Cowboys may cut ties with new RB before he ever plays a snap in favor of rookie Jaydon Blue

I like the pick, but you think more than 50% of RBs drafted in the 5th round become NFL starters?
Rico (Who was an undrafted FA) could and should have been the starter from day 1. If the Cowboys go into the season with Williams and Sanders as the 1-2 start and they are struggling and then decide to play the rookie RB's half way into the season it could be a failure like last season.

What are you talking about? Who is even talking about Rico and who cares about one guy? What kind of point do you think that makes? Ryan Leaf was the number two pick in the draft and crashed and burned. You want to talk about what every single undrafted RB does in the NFL has done, then talk about Rico. Romo was undrafted too. That doesn’t mean I think some undrafted QB we bring into camp is going to be a starter. Every player we draft is a superstar each year.

You play your best players. That may be the 5th or 7th round rookie or it may be the veterans you signed.

Exceptions don't make points.

Almost 0%. Last time I checked, I think it was 26 of NFL starting RBs came from rounds 1-3.
I don’t know if that is true or not but that is the point I’m making. I really like the pick and have high hopes for Blue but people need to tap the brakes. He wasn’t even the top guy on his college team. Let’s not write him off of course but let’s not put him in ink as a starter or even a guy getting 15 touches a game and specifically year one until we at least get to the preseason games

Not starting doesn't and being chosen in a later round doesn't always equal less talent to what's on the current roster. Rico proved that last year.
Some better talent sometimes can slip through the cracks and not get that chance due to bad coaching

Yeah, read it the other day and chaulked it up as offseason gibberish.
It’s one of those articles that has about as much creedence as discussing “what if C A T really spelled dog”!
Half of Williams value for this season is his pass protection. Until they’re comfortable with the 2 rookies (probably next year) in that capacity I don’t see Williams going anywhere barring injury!

Well, if Javonte Williams gets cut, hopefully Jerry gives Williams' #33 jersey to Jaydon Blue! That would definitely be more fitting since Blue's running style definitely resembles that of Tony Dorsett. It would also be a big/huge marketing move for Jerry.

Sell that historic #33 jersey for years to come, Jerry! $$$$$$$$$$

:hammer: :clap::yourock::flagwave:
Shouldn't he play a down before Tony comparisons?

Javonte is faster than Deuce. He's also an accomplished pass blocker. 2nd year removed from horrific knee injury, so if he's going to regain his burst, should be this year.

There's not that much difference in their ages.
Javonte Williams is definitely not faster than Deuce Vaughn.

Javonte Williams: 4.55 40 time
Deuce Vaughn: 4.46 40 time

Nick Eastman was reporting Williams looked to be the better RB in OTA's so far.
Does not mean much though. As he was given the 1st carry.
BS himself, basically said the RB situation is still open. As others reported no clear RB emerged from the very limited work so far.

If we cut any RB before Vaughn, we will only further reinforce what a clown show this franchise is

Dallas Cowboys could cut Javonte Williams in favor of rookie Jaydon Blue

The flip side of the coin is that the position is so wide open Williams could take the starting job if he excels. He has the experience to work well with Dak Prescott as a pass protector.

But anything is possible with this Cowboys' backfield.

Look this is a wide open competition nobody's getting cut early before they get to see all of camp hell two guys can get cut maybe Williams and Sanders both don't make the team maybe mafah gets cut I mean it's wide open we may end up having to bring in Nick Chubb this is a position on this team outside a defensive line that's got a wide open amount of bodies competing to make this team...

For me those are the two positions I'm watching it's literally going to be fun to watch and see who wins these jobs..

Be crazy of all of a sudden Vaughn makes this team.. And likely is effective I mean that old offense in the stale play calling and the misuse of a lot of our players it's going to come to the surface that some of these players are better than people are giving them credit for... I'm also curious how they use Hunter are they going to use them like a full back a hybrid I mean how does he make this team maybe he ends up being the banger the starting running back you know the short yardage guy and then we use blue behind him.

Here's the single most competitive interesting in my opinion position group on this team right now I can't wait to see it all and I'm betting they're all going to have to play their way through the entire training camp and preseason before they make a decision...

Yeah I don't care what people look like in short running around barrels and cones this is the most wide-open position as far as crazy competition goes in camp to me the most interesting competition there is outside of interior D line...

Hell for me I see at least 44 spots already taken on this team, there isn't going to be a lot of big surprises or changes, but this is the one position that I'll be watching closely... should be fun

Williams was the worst RB in the NFL last year. Cowboys fans: he’s indispensable. It’s like the Zeke saga all over again. Running backs that avg 3.5 yards a carry are the new hotness.
No he wasn't.

Only 25
2 years removed from wrecked knee
One of best pass protectors
3.7 ypc was same as Kenneth Walker, Travis Etienne and better than Nick Chubb, Kareem Hunt and others

I'm fine if he gets beat out but you're exaggerating on how bad he is
