Cowboys may cut ties with new RB before he ever plays a snap in favor of rookie Jaydon Blue

No he wasn't.

Only 25
2 years removed from wrecked knee
One of best pass protectors
3.7 ypc was same as Kenneth Walker, Travis Etienne and better than Nick Chubb, Kareem Hunt and others

I'm fine if he gets beat out but you're exaggerating on how bad he is
I would take Travis Etienne and Walker anytime over Williams. Walker might be iffy with the injury, but he still a hell of a talent.

Hate to be positive and throw people off lol…but I like how they are approaching the RB position.

I don’t want a big money player there or high draft capital invested. I prefer a few that are interchangeable.

They’ll figure it out in camp. Unfortunately injuries usually solve what appears to be a numbers situation.

Dallas Cowboys could cut Javonte Williams in favor of rookie Jaydon Blue

The flip side of the coin is that the position is so wide open Williams could take the starting job if he excels. He has the experience to work well with Dak Prescott as a pass protector.

But anything is possible with this Cowboys' backfield.

Doubt it's Williams who gets cut.

I do think they finally cut Vaughn unless he really makes a case for himself in preseason.

Just too short. Doesn't stretch out far enough when tackled. His height is the problem.

Oh jeez, where do people get this stuff? I’d say it’s at a minimum 50/50 Williams is the week 1 starter but even if he does end up getting cut it isn’t the plan right now. heck, you could say the Cowboys might cut Blue in favor of Williams. I mean Blue is a 5th round rookie who wasn’t even the top back on his own college team and if they didn’t lose two other RBs to season ending injuries over the Summer he might not even have been drafted.

Schottenheimer has preached competition. The best back is going to start and that’s going to be determined by what happens in the next few months. My guess is if a veteran is cut it’s going to be Sanders. He was horrible the last two years.
I doubt Williams is cut. But it's more likely they cut him than Blue.

Blue. Will. Not. Be. Cut. Not a chance.

Talk about an incredibly premature thread ...
Don't try to overthink it. Bo Nix was a little less than 100 yards from being the leading rusher for Denver. Unless somehow Williams shows that he's leaps and bounds better than the current talent it could be very possible (per the article) that the Cowboys release him.

This being presented as a topic to consider at all was overthinking it. The only thing to know is the team will go to training camp and sees how things shake out. That's it. Nobody has a leg up on getting a large share the snaps at the moment.

Sadly, it was noted that Schotty mentioned all of the RB room today... Blue... Williams... Sanders... Mafah... and then caught himself and said something like... "and we can't forget about"... Hunter Luepke.

Deuce = Forgotten man
I took his statement as the FB job is Luepke's job to lose since he can play RB, FB and tight end. Thus basically telling the rest of the running back room that there are only 2 to 3 spots to be won and most likely only two.

DAl is not keeping all these RBs. Someone is going home.
One of the vets is getting cut. Camp will probably determine which one but contracts are a factor. Shouldn’t be but Jerry will consider a signing bonus

We took 7 RBs to Oxnard last year when the top two RB slots were essentially taken already.

Count me as someone who believes we'll take at least one more than the 5 we have now.

Williams was coming of a horrific knee injury last season. Try to keep up.

The injury didn't happen last season, it happened in 2022. Maybe you need to keep up.

"

Denver’s leading rusher with 513 yards, he had his share of struggles and is not the same player he was before suffering a serious knee injury in October 2022"

Of course, that's obvious. You're talking quality starting proven RBs to a guy who got hurt after having a very good rook season. And an injury he may never fullly recover from, some do and some don't.

OK, now that's weird. You just proved my point w/ the bolded. Strange.
