Cowboys may have their short-yardage solution in UDFA Hunter Luepke

Tap the breaks a tad. No one is going to mistake this guy and Zeke when it comes to, well, much of anything.

Prime Zeke was a beast. Then he got paid, got hurt and started making business decisions.
I don't know what games you were watching. Zeke always played hard, never took plays off and played hurt through entire seasons. Dude was a warrior

For the 50th time:
The notion of a "short yardage back" is outdated and silly!

The Chiefs biggest RB?
216 lbs

Eagles biggest back?
216

The guy the 49ers use most inside opponent's five?
Christian McCaffrey

The 49ers are one of the few teams that have a fullback (and a good one). Do they use him for short yardage carries? Almost never.

Also been compared to Alstott, fwiw.

Surprised how typically anyone seems to write about the player and fail to mention he's still rehabbing from a season-ending shoulder injury. It's only been local Fargo ND media that appears to have been aware.
I threw it on a Luepke thread, draft folder, back in about Jan/feb.

All teams knew. He was a senior bowl invite, but didn’t participate,
He was a combine invite, but only did interviews

I'll go on record. He will make the team as long as he is healthy.
agreed. I think he and McKeon are fighting for a spot. I don't see mcKeon as the 4th TE bringing much to the table, if Hunter can show he can catch a few.

Another top ten draft pick. The Cowboys personnel have certainly mastered the area of rookie free agents.

So the next great FB/RB for the Cowboys can't be found in the top tier of the NFL draft like all previously mentioned players, he's among the group that you typically fill practice squads with. What are the odds?
Well we did get the next Barry Sanders at the bottom of the 6th. Why not the next John Riggins as an undrafted FA?

Im sure we're scanning the local Walmarts for the next Kurt Warner.

he was and he played hard, no questioning that, but given his injuries, he seemed to have declined very fast. he was ineffective his last year or so. he was a JAG with a price tag that was highest in the league. this for a position that's easily filled with rookies. finding his replacement at a much lower cost was easy. . RB is the easiest position to adjust in the NFL.

the solution of short yardage lie not with the backs but the wall in front of them. if the OL is fixed then any one of the backs can be successful as long as they have decent vision.

Cowboys fans are desperate for a RB that’s terrible but can do things that any fullback can do.

We also need to give that terrible RB the bulk of Carrie’s.

Well I see someone else blind deaf and dumb to think Zeke was making business decisions. But then there is a lot of that around

Looks athletic, strong, and fast for a traditional full back. He's going to have to push a TE off the roster to stick more than likely. I don't see him grabbing an RB spot.

He was making business decisions when he held out while under contract. Jerry caved and paid a ridiculous contract.

Zeke wasnt really the same after that. Call it what you will.
