Some fans here may be too young to remember how important a good fullback can be.

I agree, but we have seen this before. We did that last couple years with UDFA's. Then we cut em. His odds may be a bit better but by no means is he a lock.
I do think his odds could be increased over the other FB types we've picked up because all of our RBs are speed types. If we want someone who can pound in short yardage, then keeping Luepke makes sense. Before we didn't need that because we had Zeke. Increases his value if he can be a short-yardage back and fullback instead of just a limited-use fullback.

Pollard
Vaughn
Jones
Davis
Dowdle

It's getting crowded. Luepke has a fight but it wouldn't surprised me if he kicks someone in that group off the 53. The Cowboys love him. My guess is Dowdle.
Davis and dowdle are fodder. Camp bodies.

They wasted the last FB here, I just hope this one gets a chance to make a difference in a few games.

I'm thinking more of a Larry Centers.
He's got a little wiggle (good cutbacks), some burst, and catching ability coming from that FB position.
Another weapon to help Dak.

As long as Hunger Loepke CONTINUES TO BE A PRODUCTIVE ADDITION to the C'boys, he'll have a place on this team. His talent speaks for itself.
To 'Bullflop' --the UDFA just became a member of the Cowboys team eight days ago.
Slow your roll.

I think so on Dowdle. Not as sure on Davis. His lack of speed may get him, but he has some good vision and cutting ability between the tackles and showed better power than I expected.

If he has a role this year the cowboys truly failed this offseason with the rb position.
That may be the case, but he was the third back last year. Could be again this year depending on how it shakes out with Jones and Vaughn, and whether we count Luepke in with the backs if we keep him. (Might be counted in with the tight ends, with us keeping three TEs and a fullback ... if he proves to be worth a roster spot.)

Wow- here's ESPN's Depth Chart at RB for Dallas:

1) Pollard
2) Davis
3) Jones
4) Vaughn

If Davis is the second best back on the team, that's a little scary!
