Cowboys must earn their Membership Card

In my view there are a few fringe clubs. The Steelers certainly have some credibility, but they are no longer in "The Club" imo.

Here's why.
- It's been 6 years since they won a Super Bowl.
- Tomlin hasn't won one...not yet anyway

I think most people look at the coach and the quarterback as they key ingredients for a playoff sturdy team. Both.
umm Tomlin is 1-1 in SuperBowls

I think Tomlin is a good coach but he wasn't HC in '08. I'm talking about reputation...cred....auro...mystique and that comes from lifting that trophy in a pivotal role.

Some of the best players and some really good coaches have never won Super Bowls. But you win a SB and you build belief into your organization...and a bit of fear into your opponents.

If Rogers hadn't won that one Super Bowl...we'd all feel differently about Sunday's game.

The Cowboys can get that card too. We all know what it means.
He was head coach in 2008.

<google is my friend> I stand corrected. Put Pittsburgh in that club w/Pats, GB and Seattle. Definitely.

I was drinking too much vodka back in those days...it's a bit of a blur.

They don't have to earn anything, they are going to forcibly take it

Your talking out of both sides of your mouth.

If the Boys take it...however they do it...they earned it. They get the cred. The card. The cred card, so to speak. Until then we shouldn't be at all surprised if people have their doubts about us.

We don't take Atlanta seriously no matter what they did in the regular season. With Oakland and Carr it would have been the same. Questions.

Respect must be earned...and the playoffs are a different level.

If they win, it's a big first step to 'being in the club'.

If they lose, then they get thrown back on the pile, at least temporally, of teams like the Panthers who look great one year, and look terrible others.

Can't the Cowboys use the side entrance due to our "Legend" status?

I mean, we do have 5 rings. Got to count for something. :)

The Panthers are an interesting case.

They were 15-1 and get to the Super Bowl in dominant fashion. Then they not only lose but Newton's reputation starts to (unfairly) shift from super man to Mr. Pouty. Then this year they get slammed with injuries, curious game management from the referees...and finish 6-10.

They were knocking at the door but now are in the bleacher seats begging for peanuts.
