Cowboys must prioritize 3rd-round pick's ceiling in potential OL shuffle

Obviously, none of these perceived savings would come to fruition if the player drafted cannot perform. They’re only bargains if they replace market value starters, so drafting a position just for the sake of its value makes zero sense if the player can't play.

Based on market trends the WR position is one of the most valuable positions in the game. If the Cowboys drafted one at No. 12, they'd be on the hook for an estimated $4,845,296 in APY (per Sam Hoppen). If that pick is a WR he'd be only the 44th-highest paid WR in the NFL. Assuming that player can become a good player, he'll offer Dallas tremendous savings on that rookie deal.

The NFL draft is a great way for cost-conscious teams like the Cowboys to save significant cash and cap space if they only target the right players at the right positions.

I seriously dont know what we should do.

We suck at drafting OL players. We had been good during the Garrett years. But in the last 6-7 years we only drafted bust material.
To even find an OG we need to invest premium picks which other teams invest to snatch an All Pro franchise LT.

So i dont know what to do. Of course we should draft a starting RG. But then RG is the least important position on the OL. So you never spent a pick higher than 3rd round to find an Pro Bowl caliber RG.

We will never be able to do that. Considering us spending a 1st rounder to replace Martin just gives me the shivers.

But then Dallas also considers picking a RB in the top 12 after handing elite money to our QB. Why ? Because Bum aint able to deliver.

What a waste of an franchise with this FO.

Ball & Waletzko are probably their worst picks so far and both will probably be at least depth in the league for ten years. Waletzko is still with the Cowboys but may be on the way out. Ball is with the Saints.

Dan Skipper has hung around the league for eight or nine years already. He was terrible.

Nathan Thomas is my darkhorse to win the RG spot.

I hope we get a TE in the 1st and some special team players in all of the other rounds. Jerry and I have the same ideas. Who are you guys looking at in the draft next year?
