So the best thing for Cowboys , is to Draft a QB who fits what JG likes to do on offense.

That is basically a pocket passer, someone with size, and who could take off and run

at times, but not on designed runs.

He could bkup tony, and even rest tony in 2nd half of season, so Tony is fit for the playoffs.

Play the bkup, against the weaker opponents.

Manziel and RG3 will not fit in JG's offense, neither one is a good pocket passer, and that is
what JG needs for the offense he likes to run.

To get good results with either of these 2 would require a whole new offense designed
for JF or RG, and that isnt going to happen here, and even if they tried, it would
not work out too good, probably about like when we try to run pick plays.

Garrett needs a QB who can read a defense, yes who can work from the pocket and be able to buy time when things do break down. What teams is not looking for that in a QB? RGIII is a 1 read and run QB he was relegated to 3rd string in Washington behind Cousins and McCoy and as for Manziel they do not know from 1 week to the next what stupid crud he is going to pull. No team wants a QB that you can't depend on if he will even be there for his team.

If we draft a QB with the 4th overall pick we better come up with an offense that fits them. When you make that kind of investment in a QB everything you do needs to be tailored around what they do best.

The title to this thread is ridiculous to me. We need a new coach with a scheme that fits more than 1 quarterback in NFL history

That would be the worst mistake ever. Take the best QB and build the system around his strengths.

Not some career back-up QB that can't seem to teach anything to QBs.

It is like Marinelli's system. If I had a dollar for every stud DT that doesn't fit Marinelli's scheme I could have signed Suh.

I think I might have the answer...

Here's 3 to draw to:
Colt McCoy
Chase Daniel
Matt Moore

Pick one and let's move on to bigger issues.

I think the ability to extend plays is a must for a QB in Garretts scheme.

Can't just be thinking about what we're doing now because Garrett may not be here after next season if the team doesn't bounce back. In todays game it's important for any QB you draft to be able to extend plays.

No they don't. Coaches adapt around the skill set of the QB. Yes, Garrett too.

Garrett's system is just silly and Garrett won't be around to implement his system to the new QB in the next couple of years, so no... We should not find a QB who is Garrett friendly.

Rest Tony the 2nd half of the season??? Rest Tony vs weak opponents??? Under these circumstances why even have Tony at all?

Garrett's system seems to be: get to line, wait for a long time, try to read the D, run a lot sideline to sideline patterns, try to throw short of the chains and break some tackles.....also: run on 1st down

I have see Drew Stanton's name floated out there. Not sure why Arizona wouldnt want him back. Familiar with Linehan's system.
