This is not at all surprising. We signed more free agents than we lost...

Next year we should get a few with the losses of Felix, Butler, Jenkins, Phillips

Didn't SF have 14 picks already? There's no way they have room for 17 rookies so I'd expect them to move around a lot on draft day adding extra picks in future years and still drafting 12-14 players this year. Must be nice.

We had it like that one year, I believe 2009, our front office screwed up royally with so many picks.

How the hell is San Fran doing this?

They have a General Manager who is accountable for his performance and has a boss who can fire him. They hired a fantastic coach with an NFL background who had proven he win as the top guy at a challenging college environment. They weren't afraid to draft a QB and develop him, also parlaying their now 2nd string QB into some premium draft picks.

So basically all the stuff that Dallas used to do, and none of what Dallas currently does. That's why they went from a bad team to the NFC Championship in one year and advanced to the Super Bowl the following year.

If they can find a trading partner, if not, then they have to use all their picks and basically cut over half of them. Only so much available room on the roster. I think it would be quite humorous if SF couldn't trade the picks and had to cut so many drafted players.

They lost more players than they signed last year, we did the opposite. There is a formula that is used that takes into account players signed, players lost, size of their contracts, ect.....

This is not just decided out of thin air, you get comp picks for losing higher value free agents than what you signed. The fact that San Fran made it to the SB after losing more talent than what they signed speaks to how well they draft.

San Fran will be moving up in the first round for sure. I also expect them to ship picks for future draft picks (a 2013 4th for a 2014 3rd).
