Cowboys not awarded any compensatory picks

Y'all shouldn't have chased him off.

Chased him off?

Who chased him off?

And how? By having a difference of opinion. IMO, Adam was one of the more highly respected posters on the board and I can't say I have seen too many times where anyone personally attacked him.

I could be wrong, and will gladly apologise if I am.

But, from what I've seen this place has turned pretty ugly over the last few months - I'm not surprised in the slightest that some of the older and more "highly respected" posters have been keeping their distance.

Honestly, I don't think there is much room for difference of opinion round these parts anymore. That's probably a discussion for a different thread though.

They have a General Manager who is accountable for his performance and has a boss who can fire him. They hired a fantastic coach with an NFL background who had proven he win as the top guy at a challenging college environment. They weren't afraid to draft a QB and develop him, also parlaying their now 2nd string QB into some premium draft picks.

So basically all the stuff that Dallas used to do, and none of what Dallas currently does. That's why they went from a bad team to the NFC Championship in one year and advanced to the Super Bowl the following year.

:hammer:

Hopefully things will stay on a more even keel and perhaps hit more of an upswing around draft time, but I disagree that there is no room for differing opinions. I have never felt that I could not express my opinion on this board and I have posted here for many years. I hope you come around and post more of yours.

A lot of the issues that I saw the past few months were in the way the messages were delivered. When the wording either dismisses or belittles the opposing views from the first post, then it is fairly disingenuous to act surprised or offended when other posters react in an adversarial manner.

No doubt some posters let their emotions get the best of them in January or February, but I would lay blame on some of the posters that have been staying away as well as some that still post here daily. Some of the people, great posters on this forum, should have simply stayed away from their keyboards for that period of time.

If memory serves me right, didn't the Rams have three 1st rd picks in the draft right after they won the superbowl? As I recall, it didn't do squat for them.

I'd hold off on annointing the 49ers a dynasty.
A) They haven't won squat yet. Close but no cigar does not cut it.
B) One injury to Kaepernick and where are they?
C) What exactly did their 1st rd pick of last year do?

Didn't SF have 14 picks already? There's no way they have room for 17 rookies so I'd expect them to move around a lot on draft day adding extra picks in future years and still drafting 12-14 players this year. Must be nice.
True.
You know they'll be packaging deals moving up in this year's draft at various times and/or trading some of this year's picks for future years. Great value in that if done right. A 2013 3rd rounder will often get you a 2104 2nd rounder.

The Rams went back to the Super Bowl two years later and were heavily favored, but lost to NE 20-17.

But yes, you have to actually draft the right players with the picks you have. lol
If you have 3 1st rounders and spend them on Vernon Gholston, Akili Smith, etc...you're hosed.

Also agree about this SF dynasty talk. If they win a couple of SBs ina row, then we can begin the discussion. :)

If I am san Fran I draft every player who slides in the draft with a questioned past or due to a major injury rounds 3 and on........3 or 4 out of 10 will become very good starters......like the honey badger, quinterous smith..WKU??????, Tank Carridene, ect...

You're not imagining things.
It has gone down hill in a big way.

If your skin is not thick enough to handle a sports forum, you really should not be participating in the forum. If that is the reason some of these members are staying away, more power to them. It is not unique to this forum either. I think you would be hard pressed to find any sports forum in the world that does not act like this forum. Some are a little better and some are a little worse, but overall, they are all about the same. You just have to learn not to take things personal on these sites.

Also, their last GM did a fantastic job of drafting but hired a bad head coach and had musical offensive coordinators, so they ended up with premium picks like Aldon Smith though their roster was upper third in the league.

We've just been too long without football, and we're going into withdrawals.

That might include screaming & writhing in pain, choking, drooling, cyanosis, loss of bowel & badder control, and seizures.

The lack of FA activity has made the pain worse, and we can only hope to hang on until the draft.

We can get a bit of nourishment off of other teams' moves, but that just worsens our anger.

Some of our Cowboy feed made us sick by year's end, so we went into the offseason in poor health already.

I'm gonna reread "Turning the Thing Around", and hope I don't crap myself.

Thick or thin skin has nothing to do with it, the level of discourse around here has plummeted. Like I said, this is probably best for another thread though, to get back on topic:

Since 2003 SF have had only 2 winning seasons (the last two). Sure they're in good shape right now, but going by record the NYG are currently more of a dynasty :puke:

Let's see if they can repeat the Kaepernick trick and actually win a superbowl before we get too carried away.

And, if dallas wanted compensatory picks we would have let Spencer walk.

The sickening thing about San Fran and the strength of their roster and draft position is that they appear to have climbed back into SB contention after their long period of mediocrity. The 'boys have had plenty of time to make that happen, and have failed. Success is truly built through keen evaluation of talent, the least expensive of which is found in the draft. Let's hope this year's crop is a stroke of genius or luck.

Yea San Fran didn't just go from a bad team to good team in a year. That took years of progress. It may have seemed over night but that took years to get them where they are at.

I agree with what he's saying though. When you read some of the posts on this site its almost like some posters wish the Cowboys would fail just so they can say "I told you so...". You won't even find that type of nonsense at a Cleveland Browns forum.
