He runs hot and cold in my opinion. He will call some really great sequences of plays and have the defense on their heels; then he inexplicably becomes predictable, to the extent the defense is anticipating the plays…then of course there is a gadget play or two that take forever to develop and cost the offense yards.
In the 1st half of the Bengals game he did a good job calling plays: stretching the field, being aggressive and attacking the defense; playing with good tempo.
In the 2nd half he became conservative; he wasn’t aggressive; tempo slowed; he seemed content to run 3 plays and put the onus on the defense to stop the Bengals. Granted a fumble by our TE cost us a first down and a possession, but for the most part I thought the offense regressed.
I know he is a coach’s kid, has an offensive mind and will probably be a head coach within the next year or two, but I still think there is room for improvement.
With all that being said, his future is bright…just not with Dallas.
