Just calling it like I see it. Think the Cowboys are lucky to have him. Our offense and Dak have prospered statistically with him as OC.

Yesterday just punctuated it with a backup QB.
Why haven't you made this thread last Monday?

He was here for 10 years because he had some success. No other HC this era came as close as many times of finally reaching championship games this era.

I think we have best coaching staff we’ve had since Parcells but so far it’s not getting us any closer to a championship appearance.

He was here for that long because Jerry thought he could make a good coach out of him. Too bad it never happened.

KM overestimated Dak's potential and tried to turn him into Mahomes. The game plan should be simple, especially with the defense playing so well. Run the ball and shorten 3rd down yardage need for a first down. Control the clock and field position. Dak is a bus driver and treat him as such and he can bus drive better than Rush. Unfortunate thing is he is getting paid 40m per year to be no better than a bus driver but cant do anything about that now.

Driving the bus only works when you have a HOF line and Zeke averaging 5 YPC on first down, like he did his rookie year. Plenty of average QBs could have driven the bus in that situation, where the stars aligned for an OL thar if they didn’t bench their real QB, who knows what type of things they could have accomplished.

Kellen Moore enters his fourth season as the team's offensive coordinator, fifth overall as a coach in Dallas. Here’s a reminder how the offense has performed under his watch.

Under Moore's guidance in 2021, the offense rose to new heights as the unit boasted the top offense in the NFL, leading the league in total offense and points-per-game - a huge improvement from 2020 where the unit was 14th in total offense and 17th in scoring. Additionally, the offense tied for second in passing and was ninth in rushing .

Dak Prescott returned from his season-ending ankle injury in 2020 to throw for a franchise-record 37 touchdowns in 2021, while also setting single-season career-bests in completions (410) and completion percentage (68.6%) - third highest in team history. Prescott also recorded his second career 4,000-yard passing season for a 104.2 quarterback rating (second-highest of his career; third in the NFL in 2021.

On the ground, Ezekiel Elliott recorded his fifth career 1,000-yard rushing season and 10 TD’s. In his second season, CeeDee Lamb led the team with 79 catches for 1,102 yards (first career 1,000-yard season) and six touchdowns. Tight end Dalton Schultz had a breakout season with 78 receptions (second) for 808 yards (third) and eight touchdowns (tied-first) to join Jason Witten as the only Cowboys tight ends with 70 receptions and 800 receiving yards in a season.

Moore's offense in 2020 was plagued with injury, limiting the group from reaching its peak potential. Through the first five weeks of the season, Prescott led all quarterbacks in passing yards (1,856) and 400-yard passing games (three) before suffering a season-ending ankle injury in Week 5 against the N.Y. Giants. Prescott also set an NFL record for the most passing yards (1,690) in the first four games of a season and the most consecutive games (three) with 450-plus passing yards. Due to Prescott's injury, Moore was forced to prepare three other quarterbacks during 2020, as Andy Dalton, rookie Ben DiNucci and Garrett Gilbert each saw time behind center. It was the first time Dallas started four quarterbacks in a season since 2015. However, the offense still finished eighth in the NFL in passing, as Dalton led the team with 2,170 yards and 14 touchdowns. Amari Cooper led the offense with a career-high 92 receptions (fourth player in team history to reach 90 catches in a single season) for 1,114 yards and five touchdowns.

Rookie Lamb was second on the team with a club rookie record 74 receptions for 935 yards (second) and five scores. Schultz, who filled in for an injured Blake Jarwin (knee), was third on the team with then career-highs in receptions (63 - fourth tight end in team history to reach 60 receptions in a season), yards (616) and touchdowns (four). In the ground game, Elliott finished 10th in the NFL with 979 yards on 244 carries with six touchdowns. On the offensive line, the Cowboys were forced to shuffle eight different starting combinations due to injuries.

In his first year at the helm of the Cowboys offense (2019), Moore presided over the NFL's top-ranked offensive attack , the second-rated passing offense and fifth-ranked running game. His offense guided the ascension of Prescott to finish second in the league in passing and set a career-high in passing yards and then career-highs in passing touchdowns (30-fifth) and completions (388 - second), while becoming only the second Cowboys passer to reach 4,000 yards and 30 touchdowns in a season.

The offense also featured Elliott, who was fourth in the NFL in rushing with 1,357 yards and 12 touchdowns but second with 1,777 scrimmage yards. Cooper also had a breakout campaign under Moore's tutelage, as he led the team and set then career-highs with 1,189 yards and eight touchdowns on 79 receptions (second in his career).

There's really no need to be concerned about Moore and his future. He's Jerry's boy to keep or dismiss as he sees fit. Much will depend upon the wins and losses, like any other OC, with any other team. Will Jerry and Stephen let him go if they're not satisfied with this team's results? That's strictly a matter for them to decide, possibly based largely upon their own expectations. Wins and losses should go far in that determination.

What we think or do has little or nothing to do with it. We'll see just what Kellen's fate is in due time. It's not a popularity contest -- it's simply a front office decision that's pending in any given year. Jerry won't turn him loose easily -- it's his guy whose future is in question, after all. Results matter, though. Let's wait and see what the FO holds in store for Kellen in due time. I'm neutral, to be totally honest. I'm okay, with or without him.

I’m not sure team results are as critical for Coordinators as they are HC’s. If you have a top caliber offense you’re in charge of but the team overall doesn’t have as much success as you’d hope I’m not sure you can lay that at their feet.

I actually presented a thread before the game laying out what it would take to beat the Bengals.

I certainly like most didn’t give us much chance of fulfilling those hopes. But the results no doubt cemented it.

I’m not familiar with you as a member here or recall responding to your post over the years but I’ve been on record as supporting Moore has on the most part made the most of his opportunity here .

That seems fair to say. It would likely take someone with a good feel for what a good OC must do to get the most out of his offense. Jerry and Stephen aren't the ones to have that ability. Maybe McCarthy could fill that bill, if anyone could on this team. It would be questionable whether or not he'd have cause to blame his own issues on Kellen, though. Someone else might well be the most logical choice to serve that purpose.

I mean if you watched the Bengals week 1 you knew we had a good chance because our defense matches perfect to thier offense...and if we could get any kind of push on thier Dline we were going to have some success as long as Doogie Howser OC didnt start air raid ball again. Several here said that Cincy was a ripe pick to not make the playoffs because the Oline is still trash...obviously they have plenty of time to turn it around but 0-2 teams dont have a high% of playoffs births...

IMO, Moore had not been effective since the Denver game last year until he lost his starting QB last week and had to adjust the offense for him. That same formula would also work wonders for Dak who is not capable of elevating those around him. It quite the opposite, actually.
