49ers installed as early favorites to win Super Bowl LIX

Published February 12, 2024 08:12 AM

The 49ers lost to the Chiefs on Sunday night and the AFC champions are the No. 2 team on boards as we kick off the offseason. The Ravens, who lost to the Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game, are No. 3 and the Lions and Bills round out the top five, although the order of those final two teams isn’t uniform.

Six teams make up the next block as oddsmakers have the Bengals, Cowboys, Eagles, Dolphins, Packers, and Texans in varying orders. The Chargers, Jets, Rams, and Jaguars are the next group and Caesars Sportsbook assistant director Adam Pullen told ESPN that they’ve seen a lot of early action backing the Lions and Chargers.
Slim and NONE!

Perfect. Exactly the kind of positive reinforcement the team needs. Look mom I told you we are better than Green Bay.
I'll just stay with this group of Cowboys have backbone, myself....

They aren't close and the gap will widen next season.

Same FO
Same HC
Same Culture
Same Team Dysfunction
Same Choking Team "Leaders"

The Lions and Packers are on the upward trajectory with solid management, coaches and players.

Just sit back and watch it unfold......it's a certainty
Must have seen your shadow on Ground Hog's Day again...

I agree ...... Mahomes and Reid have proven they don't need a lot of talent. Shanahan is worth at least 7-8 wins alone but their offensive talent is this IMO. Can McCathery go another season injured free, what about Deeboo......their offense changes a lot w/o either player. Even with Purdy, you can bet defensive coordinators will spend the offseason breaking his game down.
In a drunken bing back in college I swear that my friend went into a McDonald's and came out with a McCatheter. I'm fairly certain that the server didn't have a medical license. He might have also grown up to be the medical advisor to Jerry on drop foot.

All great points, but I question if the Lions can stay on that trajectory. To me Dan Campbell's style can wear out after a while, much like Nick Sirianni's act wore out in Philly.

The Lions played the "nobody believes in us because we sucked for decades" card very well in 2023. They aren't sneaking up on anybody anymore.
That's a possibility but if you look at how they are built, they are stronger in the trenches on both sides of the ball than we are, especially when you consider our aging players.

They have some dogs on that team.....how many do we have?

Campbell is building a team in his image and philosophy and it's earning dividends.....we were lucky to escape with a W because if we played them in Detroit, they'd wipe the floor with us.

It's the owners shadow and it's the #1 reason for this teams lack of cohesiveness and discipline

It wasn't me planning "victory parties " before the Green Bay disaster......it was the players, but feel free to bring me into the conversation to deflect away from the teams shortcomings

Exactly. We have "dogs" but they only bark without any bite. They can beat up the Giants and Commanders and laugh all the way home but when someone hits them in the mouth first they curl up into the corner.

Jerry doesn't enter the carpet area and stays in his booth.

That is all upon the coaches and players. I don't consider any cowards. No shadow among men.

We're a playoff team, so that automatically puts us in the top 14. And you can kind of whittle down from there to get us maybe in the top 10. Doesn't really mean much, though, since we're not either of the top two or even the top five for now.

You're one of those type of fans who would still think the super bowl was possible even if Dallas had a 1-15 record.

Jerry loves fans like you.......
Nope, I'm just more realistic than the average fan and don't jump off of the deep end and pile on with negativity. The Cowboys are currently a top 6 team even with the playoff failure. They have a good shot at being in the mix again next season, but they certainly need to fix some weak points to get over the hump.

We weren't one of the top eight this year in the playoffs, so what makes us top six? I can understand saying that we're maybe top 10, but we didn't justify being considered top six since we lost in the wild-card round. As Parcells would say, "You are what you are."
