Cowboys Officially Shut Up Emmit!

The young players on this team continue to improve. Austin, Spencer, Bennett, Choice, Jones, Free, Ball, Bowen (did he ever get a ton of playing time), etc are all making significant contributions. PLUS the bad attitudes, me first, gangster wanna-be's are gone. Should make for a somewhat mentally tougher team. On paper.

Now for putting it on the field. Giants are ripe for a beating in 10 days. They are not the same team that beat us since the playoff game and their superbowl run.

The young players are the key. December failure has been going on for 12 years or so. These guys have nothing to do with that. There is a different vibe, that's for sure. I believe more in the coaching lately as well.

I always thought it was about Emmitt trying to not look like a homer.

Sorry Emmit but you were wrong.

Emmitt got what he wanted out the prediction....a better record.

More important to him, he got some attention.

Emmitt was not the only "expert" predicting a .500 season or worse. I saw alot of analyst (like Greenberg and Golic) predict the same thing Emmitt did.

All of them look like dumbarses now. That is the thing with predictions in the NFL, nobody knows how teams are going to play from one season to the next. A team can win 4 games one season and then win the SB the next season and vice versa.

If you want proof of this, go grab a preseason magazine from August and look at the predictions and compare that to the actual records of today. Over 50% of the predictions are just laughable.

First of all, it's "Emmitt", not "Emmit". The man gave us 3 Super Bowl rings to call our own and is arguably the greatest Dallas Cowboy of all-time. Why don't you at least pay him the respect of knowing how to spell his name correctly? Kind of ironic in a thread where Emmitt's intelligence is being questioned that I've counted multiple people who can't even spell the man's name.

Second of all, prior to this "controversial" (OMG! someone thinks we are gonna go 7-9! forget everything he's ever done for us, let's burn him at the stake!) prediction, Emmitt has always been known as a huge Cowboys homer. But I don't see any threads celebrating how Emmitt literally cheered and hooted and hollered for the Boys when he was broadcasting. But a one game below .500 prediction and all of a sudden he's a Cowboy hater.

You are so proud and happy that the Cowboys "officially shut up Emmitt!". I'd feel the same way if we could officially shut some of you guys up.

Also, ESPN only quoted part of what Emmitt said. If I recall he stated that on talent alone, this team could win 7 games and that if we could put it together then 11 or 12 games is not out of the question (paraphrased).

He was on Irvin's show afterwards and gave that explanation but I guess some people hear only what they want to hear and believe only what ESPN tells them to believe. :bang2:

Wow, beat two bottom feeders two games in a row and now look at us.
We are 8-3 going in to December and the roughest part of our schedule.

The one game that should be a gimmie we won by a point in the last minutes the first meeting. Yesterday we were tested for a good portion of the game by the raiders.

I'm glad as any one to have EMMITT's prediction be wrong but he might not be that far off by seasons end. Just as November has been magical,
December has been a disaster.

The Cowboys win over the Raiders moves their record to 8-3 and officially shuts down Emmit 7-9 prediction. I know we all didnt agree with him and it actually looked like he was on to something after the Denver lost but the Cowboys have now won 6 out of 7 games since then and now go into the December with a chance to put a lock on the division title.

Emmit will forever live in the hearts of Cowboy fans and the future Hall of Famer is truly a living legend. But his career as a sports analysis ( his stint with ESPN was dreadful at best) sucks. While everyone else was eating turkey on Thanksgiving, Emmit was getting full off crow! I wonder was it fried or smoked?

Do you feel better now? Did you beat your chest and crow?

I know I need no camera....I say stupid stuff all the time......there isnt an hour that goes by, while I am awake, that I do not say at least one stupid thing.......unless, I am in a movie theatre.

Whats sad is you are probably hoping you are right.

No, actually I would love to be wrong.

I just refuse to drink the Homerade until they prove something.

That, and it seems to really get under the skin of the "real fans" on this board.

Us fake 40+ year fans really should keep our opinions to ourselves. Especially when visiting homerland.

Agreed. I would think that like a lot of ex Cowboys. Emmit is happy with the team doing well. We still need to win a few more games to really make his prediction completely wrong though.

Agreed.

Actually I imagine it's jerk off answers like this is why people don't care about your opinions. The fact that anytime anyone doesn't just fall down and say "Oh we're going to be terrible. We haven't proved anything" and simply decide that they'd rather have hope and be optomistic they get that stupid homer lable. Then you so called 'real fans' get upset when people mock you and don't agree that you're real fans.

It's pathetic. Get over yourselves. You don't want to get your hopes up. That's great. No one says you have to. But if you want people to respect your opinions and thoughts and decision to not get too up beat about a season then maybe you guys could give the fans on the other side of that the same respect.
