was he suspended due to steroids?
Jared Allen has (or had) a drinking problem. He got two DUI's within a very short period of time up here in KC.

Before sacks were an official NFL stat, someone on the 70's teams had 20 I believe.

Harvey Martin ... but it was unofficial.

I seem to recall that someone on the 60s team had 20+ but I am not sure- might have been Lilly. Its hard to believe that that stat was not kept untill the early 80s.

Martin was one of the Cowboys' most popular players in the 1970s and
early '80s, setting team records with 114 career sacks and 20 in 1977.
That season he was The Associated Press' NFL defensive player of the
year.

I think Harvey Martin "unoffically" had 23 sacks in one year. That's before the stats become offical years down the line.

Phenominal.

This is true...Harvey was a TERROR as a pass-rusher and while he had a big heart OFF the field, he would rip your head off ON the field. Randy White gets probably more accolades as he was the "Manster" but never forget, Harvey was "too mean" for a reason. One of my all-time favorite Cowboys.

Give me DWare or Patrick Willis.

Wow, Willis had 174 tackles, 33 more than the next guy! He was all over the place. It won't be unjust if he wins the DPOTY award.

Ware is that king. To think that I had to have arguments on the board I used to post on that he is the most talented player on the team....

I cant wait to see him in the playoffs, I have a feeling he is going to be off the charts and that he will be part of an aggressive attack like we saw against green bay.

Add in 4 sacks and 2 forced fumbles.

I think the fact Ware plays on a contender will help him in the voting, Allen and Willis both play for teams battling for the #1 pick.

Ware has been a beast over the past month. I also hope they continue to move him around like they have over the past few games.

Ware is going to be Defensive Player of the Year... One of the best defensive seasons ever for a Cowboy.
It would be nice, but statistically, Jared Allen trumps him in almost every stat. I didn't realize a DE could do that.

ESPN are saying it's between Bob Sanders, Haynesworth and Ware for defensive player of the year, doesn't really matter what they think but that's their choices anyway. I think Ware has it no doubt, he had an amazing year.

Sanders is getting the hype so he will get it. tackles usually do not come into the figuring all that much since there are several different ways to count them, and none of them official.

Allen never has to drop into coverage. (Or almost never, at least.)

I have a feeling it will end up:

Bob Sanders
Demarcus Ware
Jared Allen
Antonio Cromartie
Albert Haynesworth

I feel like Ware had the best year of all of these, but I have a feeling he ends up 2nd in the voting.. I hope I'm wrong..

I think it will come down to Ware and Sanders as the two prime candidates.

I think Ware will win it.
